Introduction: Breastfeeding is a practice socially considered an act of motherly love that brings many benefits to the mother and the newborn, especially by protecting against infection, and promoting growth and development. In cases where the mother is HIV positive given the recommendation not to breastfeed because it can cause a major conflict and arouse negative feelings. Materials and Methods: A review of literature that seeks to offer a reflection on the performance of the nursing staff on the back of tax seropositivity mother breastfeeding the newborn still carrying the human immunodeficiency virus. Results: The discovery of being HIV positive mother, the daily view of the impossibility of breastfeeding, nursing in the context of breastfeeding reverse, imposed by the HIV status of the mother. Discussion and Conclusions: This is a population that needs specialized care and a multidisciplinary team ready, the goal is to ensure the focus of prevention of vertical transmission, which is why professionals need to provide comprehensive care and respond to human needs of every pregnant woman in the aspects of emotional and psychological support to social and family lived. In addition to providing support to not feel indiscriminate not to breastfeed. Great is the impact of breastfeeding duality and being a mother with the human immunodeficiency virus.
