Introduction: To know the ties and the constitution of a family after an incident of Acute Myocardial Infarction. Materials and Methods: Exploratory qualitative research that represents a case study developed with one of the participating families. Data collection occurred in the period of February to May of 2012 through the observation in the home, semi-structure interview and genogram and ecomap's framings. Results and Discussion: It is a family which in the stage of movement of their children, which father had an infarction. It was evidenced family diseases like arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus II. Detected strong links with relatives, children and neighborhood; weak with the cardiology clinic and a conflicting link with neighbors. Conclusions: It was possible to know the structure and ties of a family, after one of its members have experienced the acute myocardial infarction. It is believed that this work can provide subsidies and reflections to the professional practice, which work with families that live the infarction in its context.
