Introduction: Informal caregivers are family members or people who take direct care to a person will need or cultural obligation, are not paid and are exposed to problems due to wear context and that means caring, becoming subjects of care for nurse, requiring generate support and strengthen strategies to prevent caregiver burden. Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental study with no control group, with pre and post measurement scales Zarit and family APGAR to demonstrate the effect of nursing interventions at the level of caregiver burden arising from care needs identified in the previous assessment of the highest-adult caregiver dyad. Results: Sample composed of dyads, 88% of caregivers were women, mean age 52 ± 16 years, who dedicated 24 hours to the caregiving. 100% were dependent of the caregiver. Interventions decreased the perceived overload by caregivers. Discussion: Nursing care provided in other extra-hospital spaces and focused in non-ill people, contributes to reduce the overload, requiring the permanent support of nurses. Conclusions: It was evidenced the decrease in overhead caregivers and increasing the degree of functionality of the families when they were evaluated after implementing the interventions: caretaker role, self-care, strategies to give care with quality, control of the intra-familiar conflicts, communication, relaxing and care skills.
