Introduction

Some clinical situations during child hospitalization require using peripheral Intravenous Therapy by placing intravenous devices. Data was collected using a structured instrument containing variables categorized as follows: content, language, illustration, layout, motivation, culture and applicability. The Content Validity Index equal to or greater than 0.80 was adopted as the approval value for each assessed criterion.

Seven specialist judges participated in the study; all were female nurses, five hold a master’s degree, one is a PhD and another one a specialist; they work in the fields of education, assistance, research and continued-education in pediatrics. The booklet was validated in the first evaluation round, obtaining a Global CVI of 0.98.
