Abstract

RODRIGUEZ VENEGAS, Viviana  and  DUARTE HIDALGO, Cory. A Crisis on Another Crisis: Maternities, Bodies/ Emotions and the Pandemic in the Atacama Region, Chile. Trab. soc. [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.1, pp.83-108.  Epub Mar 01, 2023. ISSN 2256-5493.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ts.v25n1.101941.

This is a qualitative biographical-narrative study that investigates the daily lives of women/mothers in the Atacama region, Chile, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results show that the measures to control the pandemic invisibilize the differentiated impact on women's bodies/emotions, overload and stress, intermingled with their own subjectivity. The study concludes on the need to consider motherhood as a practice of love, the urgency of placing care as a central element in preserving life, and the necessity of raising intersectional policies to mitigate the adverse effects of crises.

Keywords : Motherhood; bodies; emotions; gender; crisis; COVID-19.
