RESTREPO BETANCUR, Luis Fernando. Acceptance of the police in the different countries of South America in the last 15 years. LogosCyT [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.3, pp.70-83.  Epub 27-Nov-2020. ISSN 2145-594X.  https://doi.org/10.22335/rlct.v12i3.1242.

The present research aims to evaluate the percentage of acceptance of the police by citizens in different South American countries over the last 15 years. A mixed non-experimental study of a comparative, predictive, and longitudinal trend type was used, in which information was collected from the ECLAC database and the Latinobarómetro Corporation, having as control variables gender, degree of education, marital status, and age range; the response variable was related to the acceptance percentage. The General Linear Model (GLM) with Box-Cox transformation was used, in which the sample size consisted of 178,145 people (86,459 men, 91,686 women). A result that stands out includes a statistical difference which was found between countries, in that Chile has the best acceptance of the police, followed by Uruguay and Colombia. No difference between the genders was detected when making the comparison in each country in the South American continent, except in Bolivia. It is concluded that the older the age and the higher level of educational, the better the opinion of the citizens regarding the police. Gender, educational level, and age affect the community's perception in a significant way.
