FERNANDEZ OSORIO, Andrés Eduardo y LIZARAZO OSPINA, Yerlyn Ximena. ORGANIZED CRIME AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN COLOMBIA: PERSPECTIVES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PEACE AGREEMENT WITH THE FARC-EP. Novum Jus [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.2, pp.215-250. Epub 13-Dic-2022. ISSN 1692-6013. https://doi.org/10.14718/novumjus.2022.16.2.9.
This article analyzes the evolution of Colombian public policy to mitigate organized crime and protect human rights in the framework of the peace agreement's implementation with the FARC-EP. Using a quantitative analysis of nine variables in 34 peace agreements, it characterizes the progress of governmental decisions in pursuit of national reconciliation, establishing the favorable evolution of four indicators: land dedicated to agriculture, spending on education, gross domestic product per capita, and the strength of democracy. However, unfavorable indicators like unemployment, mortality, and homicides demonstrate the need to design more dynamic strategies to strengthen the administration of justice and protection of fundamental rights throughout the national territory.
