ALAMILLA-GACHUZ, Idalid; CERVANTES-SIUROB, María del Carmen y LENGYEL-ALMOS, Krisztina E.. The Impact of FDI on Productivity and Wages in Mexico Abstract. Ens. Econ. [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.57, pp.120-147. Epub 17-Abr-2021. ISSN 0121-117X. https://doi.org/10.15446/ede.v30n57.83613.
This article analyzes the impact of some variables of interest in the FDI in the Mexican manufacturing sector for the period of 2007-2018. The aim is to show the impact of FDI received in this sector on the productivity measured as the hours worked in the manufacturing industry and by plant capacity, remunerations paid to the personnel employed in manufacturing establishments, salaries paid to the workers and technical personnel, salaries paid to administrative staff and the number of employed personnel. Four models were developed using the Ordinary Least Square method; the first two considering six variables, one of them using logarithms; the other two models contemplating only the four significant variables to simplify the model. The initial model applying logarithms proved to be more robust. The key findings confirm a positive relation of the productivity of the manufacturing sector, the number of employed personnel and the salaries paid to workers and technicians on the FDI.
