Abstract: An overview of generative artificial intelligence in the context of scientific communication is offered from two points of view: that of researchers and that of the editors of academic journals. Some of the most significant challenges and opportunities of the application of AI in academic communication are also described and it concludes with a series of good practice recommendations.
