Dear readers,

Welcome to the second issue of volume 44th of the Revista Colombiana de Estadística (Colombian Journal of Statistics). I would like to thank all the authors for choosing our journal as a means of disseminating their research. I also thank the referees for their careful and meticulous work. They did a great job reviewing a large number of papers. I express special recognition to the members of the committees for their valuable support and our assistant Patricia Chavez for her dedication and commitment to the various administrative and editing activities of the journal.

We have tried to make the review processes as fast as possible maintaining scientific standards. However the average review time has been extended due to the pandemic. We apologize to the authors and appreciate their patience.

This issue includes nine articles (three in the theoretical section and six in the applied section) covering a variety of subjects in diferent felds of statistics. Entropy, multivariate time series, Bayesian item response theory models, teaching statistics, regression models, multivariate analysis, new probability distributions, and Bayesian analysis are some of the topics covered. All articles show theoretical and methodological advances combined with analysis of simulated or real data.

We have in this issue authors from Iran, Netherlands, Colombia, Brazil, USA, and Botswana. In this way, the objectives proposed by the Colombian Journal of Statistics are fulfilled, that is, to have an international character and to cover research and application topics in a broad spectrum of statistics.

We are continually improving our website to facilitate the reception of manuscripts and communication with the authors. Submission and reviewing processes are carried out completely through our website. This has allowed us to improve the eficiency of the revision and publication procedures.

The journal is contained in many bibliographic databases worldwide and it is indexed, among others, in Scimago Journal and Country Rank (rank Q3) and Publindex (B category). These ranks show that Colombian Journal of Statistics is very close to other well-established international statistical journals. I hope you enjoy this issue and invite you to continue reading and submitting your work to the Journal.

It is my pleasure to inform the statistical community that the International Statistic Symposium organized by the Department of Statistics of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia reaches its 30th version. The conference will be held between the 21st to the 28th of September. This year the topic will be big data and data analytics. The information can be obtained on the website http://simposioestadistica.unal.edu.co/

Kind regards
