For 36 years, the journal Ensayos Sobre Política Económica (ESPE) has intended to contribute to the dissemination of economic knowledge as well as to a better understanding of economic and financial problems and the policies necessary for their solution. Pursuing this goal, ESPE has undergone changes over the years, always trying to be an important channel for the promotion of research and academic debate, particularly in Colombia and Latin America.

Recently, the editorial policy of the journal was readjusted with the purpose of strengthening the production and dissemination of internal works produced by Banco de la República (BR) that contribute mainly to the discussion of Colombian economic policy. This purpose is similar to the one proposed at the launching of the journal in 1982 and which stood for over a decade.

As a consequence of this change, starting with the next issue (number 87), ESPE will focus on publishing articles written by BR's researchers with the occasional collaboration of researchers affiliated with other institutions. Additionally, the journal will no longer be printed, and hence it will be published only electronically.

On behalf of the editorial team at ESPE, I would like to express our gratitude to the Scientific and Editorial Committees for their dedicated work to the journal, particularly to the previous Chief Editors, who led ESPE to be one of the best economics journals in the country as well as to gain recognition in the region.

Finally, I wish to invite the public to visit the new online version of ESPE from the next issue. I am convinced that the transformation of the journal will contribute significantly to promote the economic policy debate in Colombia and that its content will be of interest not only to scholars and policymakers, but also to the general public.
