We are pleased to announce that in December 2013, Revista Facultad de Ingeniería Journal was re- indexed by COLCIENCIAS in Category A1, in the National Bibliographic Index - Publindex, for the years 2013 and 2014. Our Journal has maintained this classification for the last 7 years, which validates the quality of the scientific papers published in it, and the national and international visibility and reputation that the Journal has been gained. This classification recognizes our Journal, once again, as one of the most important Journals in Latin-American in the area of Engineering and Technology.

As Journal, we are aware that there is still work to do to improve our level of quality and that the only way to overcome the challenges associated with globalization is by adjusting some of our polices and strategies. To provide a better service to the authors and reviewers, and to continue adapting to the international scientific standards, we have implemented the following two strategies:

Strengthening the Editorial Committee and the reviewing process: A great effort has been made to strengthen the editorial board by adding section editors to our staff. These editors can do a better assignment of the reviewers in specific areas, helping to provide a promptly response to the authors. In addition, the selection of the reviewers is based on their academic achievements, ensuring that they are capable of conducting a critical and constructive revision of the manuscripts.

Articles in English: Nowadays, journal visibility is playing a key role to gain access to the international scientific community. To achieve a greater visibility it is necessary that our journal continues publishing peer-reviewed highly quality articles, which must be written in the international scientific community language, English. Since November 2013, the Journal started receiving only articles in English for reviewing and publication.

I want to thank the General Editor, the Editorial committee and the Scientific Committee for their support, contributions and the great work that they have been conducting to place the Journal in a national and global context, to the reviewers for their valuable feedbacks and to the authors for continuing to publish with us their most relevant findings.

Finally, we invite the scientific community in the areas of engineering and technology to submit their papers to revista@udea.edu.co.
