Editorial
For ages, men have used writing to preserve and spread knowledge, which has allowed that generations and complete epochs have been able to be discovered and rediscovered by scientists, scholars, and researchers from all subsequent times. Scientific publications are ''the machine of the time” that make the dialogue of sciences among different periods possible.
Spatial barriers have been overcome today thanks to the Information and Communication Technologies and also to the new possibilities of knowledge transfer that the modern world offers us nowadays; consequently, knowledge can be disseminated in seconds all around the world, thus allowing a constant dialogue in the academic community.
For 30 years, the Revista de la Facultad de Ingeniería has maintained its commitment of disseminating scientific and technological knowledge for the benefit of national and international academic community.
In our regional and national context there are few scientific journals which remain over time. Many publications have been born and have continued for some years, but they suddenly disappear due to diverse reasons, even without leaving a trace in history. It would be unfair to say that these publications ceased to exist because they were not good; no, there are many aspects that influence the permanent edition of a journal. But journals which have survived over time have definitely succeeded thanks to their rigorous processes of selection, edition, and to the good quality of their contents.
The history of our Engineering Journal includes key and important elements to the success of a journal of scientific dissemination. From the beginning, our journal has counted on committed, honest, and diligent directors and editorial boards with academic discipline who have undertaken the mission assigned by our institution with high responsibility.
We are talking about people who have transformed their own interests into the institutional concerns. These are the reasons that let us explain the continuous improvement of our journal, its national and international positioning, its recognition as a high quality journal among the academic community, and its increasing level of impact in the academic circles.
I would like to take advantage of this anniversary of the Revista de Ingeniería to thank the directors, starting with the founder director: Professor Oscar Piedrahita Yepes and the other directors: Professor Flavio Restrepo Cadavid, Professor Luis Fernando Mejía Vélez, professor German Urrego Giraldo, Professor Asdrúbal Valencia Giraldo, Professor Consuelo Montes de Correa, professor Teresita Betancur Vargas, and the current director, professor Maryory Astrid Gómez Botero. All of them have made significant contributions to the academic community in order to achieve their purpose of issuing a better journal than the one they received. Congratulations and thank you very much for your valuable labor.
