A note from the president of the A.C.G.

I would like to take this opportunity to send my affectionate greetings through this issue of our prestigious magazine to all our readers, colleagues and friends, but especially to members of other Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, Coloproctology, and Hepatology associations in Colombia.

As you may already know, at the last Colombian Gastroenterology Congress held in Cartagena, we achieved acceptance by the members of the Association who through their votes and with their great confidence chose to pass the reins of the Association to us. This new Board of Directors is composed of a new group of doctors carefully selected to perform the difficult task of leading the association and its members in the next two years.

This new Board of Directors has a special condition: it is the first time in the history of the association that a woman has been elected to the presidency. This situation is a great honor and recognition for me, and it is in accordance with the projection of women around the world. This fact is one more stimulus for the other two women on the board, and the whole group of select clinical gastroenterologists and surgeons, to move forward in our projects and not allow ourselves to retreat from the achievements realized by all of the preceding boards.

We have received an association which has been able to turn efforts into tangible results. Among these we would like to highlight this magazine and its international projection which is an award to the quality and the quantity of articles it publishes. We would also like to highlight our very friendly and accessible web page in which we can find important information for our specialized practice as well as assets that allow us to calmly plan the future of our association.

The new board started working on new projects and proposals from each of the members from the first day we were elected. We will keep you up to date on all of them, and will always be open to your suggestions and to working together for our common good.
