The Universidad Nacional de Colombia has adopted DOIs (digital object identifiers) as part of its program for increasing the visibility of its publications, in line with the goals of systemizing information and placing it within the reach of the globalized world community that are seen in the indexing systems. The Agronomia Colombiana Journal will rely on this indicator for the proper identification of each article in the information systems and in the different bibliographic indexes and databases. With this new method, the bibliographic citations that are contained in the bibliography of each article in the journal must contain DOIs. Although regional information does not rely on this indicator, the journal requests that at least 30% of the citations contain DOIs.

Furthermore, the journal will continue to not charge authors for publications during 2015 and to receive manuscripts in English.

This is the third installment of 2014 from Agronomia Colombiana, which offers a variety of subjects, crops, and authors from different regions of Colombia and Mexico.

In the section of Plant breeding, genetic resources and molecular biology are considered in the first article, which looks at the genotype-environment interaction in sorghum varieties in relation to the accumulation of sugars; sorghum is a promising crop for the bio-combustible agroindustry. A second article evaluates the genetic diversity of cacao accessions from the production zones of Tumaco (Colombia).

The results of an article on cape gooseberry cuttingspropagation with growth regulators and Trichoderma harzianum are presented in the Propagation and tissue culture section. A second article follows that contains an in vitro propagation protocol for Anthurium antioquiense, a plant used for decoration and biological resources in (Colombia). The Crop physiology section contains various studies that discuss the effects of different pruning methods on grape fruits in Sutamarchan (Boyaca, Colombia), the accumulation of dry mass and the nitrogen content in 'Williams' banana plants in Uraba, the use of the Aguacrop model for corn production in different environments of Colombia, and the evaluation of different equations for determining the forest cover of dry forests in Mexico.

Among the articles in the Crop protection section, there is one that validates the use of real-time PCR for the identification of two huanglongbing, citrus greening disease, species in Colombia, along with a review of studies carried out in the country on pudrición del cogollo, bud rot disease, in oil palm.

Two articles are considered in the Postharvest physiology and technology section, one of which discusses the minimum dry mass index for the optimal harvest of avocado fruits, followed by another that establishes a formulation for high-nutritional-value cookies made with wheat, cassava and bean flours.

This issues contains a new section called "Experimental design and biometry", which offers a view of the development of a new agronomic test for the effect of overlapping in experimental units found in experimental designs.

In the section of Economy and rural development, this issue contains the results of studies on the constraints and trends for common bean crops and, finally, on the analysis of the technology levels of oil palm plantations in Tibu (Colombia).

All of the articles found herein come from a wide range of research groups that are located in various regions. The commitment and consistency of our authors have provided works of the highest quality and relevance despite the high competition seen in journals, which has increased not only at the national level but also internationally.
