Editorial

The journal Agronomia Colombiana shall maintain its A2 categor y in Publindex in accordance with Resolution 376 from Colciencias, which extends the category of journals until the new regulation of academic journals in Colombia is established. The new journal evaluation system will emphasis the citations received in prominent international bibliographic indices such as scopus and Web of science. Furthermore, the efforts to improve the international presence of Agronomia Colombiana have resulted in the journal being moved to the D2 group according to the classification carried out for Colombian journals by Ranking Rev-sapiens (sapiens Research group). Other good news for our readers include the fact that our articles will be linked to the Family Farming Knowledge Platform (FAO).

The content of the second volume presents several international authors to our readers, from countries such as Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Spain, Germany, and France.

The section on Plant breeding molecular biolog y and genetic resources contains an article on the evaluation of new sugar cane varieties with nonparametric statistics.

The Crop physiology section has several articles that deal with topics such as the cultivation of sweet paprika in greenhouses, a comparison of strawberry crop yields in high tunnel and open field conditions, the distribution of nonstructural carbohydrates in cape gooseberry plants during fructification, the physiological response to water deficits in two promising oil palm genotypes and fertilization alternatives for tobacco crops in Campoalegre and Garzon (Huila, Colombia).

There is an article in the Crop protection section on the genetic variability of Papaya ringspot virus isolates from Norte de Santander as compared to bordering regions in Colombia. This section also has an article dealing with the results of an evaluation of different chlorine dioxide doses and resistance inducers for the control of banana moko. Another article presents the results of a study on the sustainability of bean cultivation on the Colombian Caribbean coast in the use of bioinputs and agrochemicals.

The articles found in the Postharvest physiolog y and technology section present diverse topics, such as the effect of sucrose and thermal treatments on the quality of stored arazá puree, the variation of fatty acids in 'Hass' avocados in relation to altitude and the maturity stage of the fruits, the postharvest behavior of 'Horvin' plum fruits with applications of ethylene, a model of the enzymatic hydrolysis of cassava using the alkaline method and a characterization of potato starches in order to obtain bioethanol.

The Soils, fertilization, and management of water section contains an article on the evaluation of different dispersion solutions for the determination of the granulometery of soils and a second article on the evaluation of reusing degraded Pleurotus ostreatus substrates in combination with wheat bran and the commercial supplement Calprozime®.

The Economy and rural development section considers a study on the factors that influence the purchase of organic products in the metropolitan area of Lima, Peru.

Finally, the Scientific notes section contains an agronomic evaluation of the barley variety INIAP-Palmira 2014, adapted to the altitudes of the Ecuadorian Andes (>3,000 m a.s.l.).

The collection of articles found in this edition of Agronomia Colombiana demonstrates once again the variability of tropical agriculture and that research in this field produces new varieties, greater knowledge on physiology, alternatives for controlling pests and diseases, production methods that are more environmentally friendly, and other significant results.
