Editorial

Agronomía Colombiana along with 500 Colombian magazines is taking part over the Colciencias announcement for the Specialized Colombian Scientific Journal Indexing - Publindex No. 768, which evaluates the quality of the national scientific magazines through different criteria, including editorial management, visibility and publications impact. This work seeks to increase the quality of the national scientific production and its insertion into the international scientific community. This call began with a primary diagnostic stage on August 16th, 2016 and will continue with the official classification stage, starting on December 2nd, 2016.

This issue of Agronomia Colombiana journal presents 19 articles of different topics related with agricultural investigations. In the Plant Breeding, genetic resources and molecular biology section, a population of species of the Annonaceae family in Colombia is morphologically evaluated in situ.

The crop physiology section contains seven investigations regarding first, growth and phenology of three varieties of Andean potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) under hydric stress conditions. Furthermore, there is a study on the growth characterization of the hybrid 'Ichivan' tomato under cover; while in oil palm, the effect of soil waterlogging conditions on plant physiology during the nursery stage was investigated. A second study estimated the transpiration rate, using the method of heat radius.

Two review articles, addressing issues of ecophysiology conclude the physiology section, the first one reviews tolerance mechanism to water deficit in plants with mycorrhizal associations and the second paper, presents the ecophysiologycal aspects of fruit trees over the climatic change event.

In the crop protection section, the first investigation studies the hymenoptera parasitoids of Dasiops (Diptera: Lonchaeidae) infesting Passiflora spp. (Passifloraceae), cultivated in Cundinamarca and Boyaca, Colombia. The second study, describes the binomial sampling results of Paraleyrodes Quaintance pos. Bondari (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) in avocado trees.

Again, the Postharvest Physiology and Technology section presents two articles, the first one analyses and characterizes physicochemically the nutritional composition of the feijoa fruit under three different ripening stages. In the cape gooseberry fruit, the method of pulsed vacuum osmotic dehydration is optimized using the response surface methodology.

Three articles compound the Soils, fertilization and management of water section, starting with a case study in Boyacá (Colombia) and regarding the use of digital elevation models over risk of soils erosion. The work on the effects of three bio-waste on the productive potential of a sodium soil is followed. The section ends with the study on the plugging of drippers using water from a tributary of the Bogotá River in Colombia.

A group of authors from three different nationalities presents a study in the section Economy and rural development, considering the green revolution in the food sovereignty.

There are two articles showing the investigation results in the Agroecology section. The first is focused on greenhouse gas emissions and potential sinks associated with conventional and sustainable systems of fruit production in the Pasto Highlands region of Nariño, Colombia. The second studies the impacts of different coffee systems on soil microbial populations at different altitudes in Villavicencio (Colombia).

Two scientific notes end the contributions in the second issue of 2016. The first describes Melanagromyza obtusa (Diptera: Agromyzidae), as a new record for Colombia and the second report, for the first time, to Takecallis taiwana (Takahashi) and T. arundinariae (Essig) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in Colombia.
