Important events frame this sixteenth edition of CT&F.

In first place, the 25th anniversary of the Colombian Petroleum Institute (ICP) which, being the entity to which Ecopetrol entrusted the responsibility to lever up the technology has completely fulfilled the investigations, development and technical support the operation has required.

A great number of investigations made by ICP have had in CT&F a means of validation and confrontation with top-level global experts, and have been spread through its 16 years of existence. Arriving to this moment, as much for ICP as for the magazine, demonstrates that the characteristic ups and downs of this industry have been successfully overcome and that the obstacles and threats have been successfully faced, demonstrating we have not been inferior to the challenges the company demands.

Secondly, Ecopetrol international projection supported in its company group, branches and technological partners has made necessary the invigoration of ICP and consequently of its technical-scientific publication. New policies and strategies that are materialized in aspects such as an increment in their staff, infrastructure renovation, increment of technological cooperation agreements, I+D+i management linked to the performance indicators and competitiveness of the world investigation centers, are generating greater intellectual production, new technological products, industrial patents and publications.

Within this framework, the favorable moment has arrived to increase the CT&F periodicity from annual to biannual, beginning a new stage of our magazine with this delivery that also shows a new image according with these changes.

A current peculiarity is the renovation of great part of the human talent that participated in the ICP construction, of its investigation lines, programs, projects, tools of knowledge and technology insurance, including CT&F as its means of technical-scientific divulgation. In consequence, the Editorial Council has been partially renovated, now having professionals of a wider disciplinary plurality and higher academic level who will potentiate the magazine's reach and positioning. Be this the opportunity to appreciate the outgoing publisher Physicist Gloria Esperanza Cobaleda Cobaleda and the other professionals that have belonged to the Editorial Council led by the Engineer María Clemencia Serrano, promoter of this great intellectual product.

The present number includes articles related with the whole value chain, such as: exploration, production (determination of the well pore pressure, overpressure estimation of), refinement (refinery oven model and optimization of hydro treatment conditions) and analytical papers, among other.

We reiterate the invitation to our readers to secure inside their work groups the discipline of writing technical - scientific papers, with the certainty that when carrying out the exercise of capturing in reviews, tests or articles the investigation work, you will have a window to the world to expose that acquired knowledge and to enrich it with the contribution of international pairs, generating a high intellectual production of great content, where CT&F can be that divulgation space.
