Diversitas has always sought quality, through a process of gradual improvements that has been moderated by changes in academic communities, since they ultimately and in many ways dictate knowledge production.

Diversitas started as a journal with a regional scope, and has consolidated itself as a trustworthy channel for local communities. This is noticeable in the increasing quality of both articles and reviews. Our policy has always been guided by a pedagogical principle of taking care of the authors that send articles to our journal, of giving feedback and striving to improve their contributions whenever authors have agreed to this and have fulfilled the quality criteria established by peer reviewers and journal policies.

This has not only put us in the Colciencias Publindex A2 Level, and in databases such as SciELO and Redalyc, but also has brought us into diverse networking and editor training initiatives in Colombia, Latin America and Spain. However, we understand that the new conditions that Colciencias have been introducing will change our place in the next Publindex report. Therefore, our commitment to quality will lead us to attain a better placement. According to the new Colciencias policies, the WoS JCR and Scimago-Scopus SJR will determine the Publindex ranking: A1 for Q1 journals, A2 for Q2 journals and B for Q3 journals. Journals in Q4 (about 72 of the 500 journals indexed by Publindex today) or covered by SciELO or Redalyc, or compliant with certain quality criteria, will be added to category C in Publindex. We trust that Colciencias will create additional categories where reputed journals that have not yet been included in JCR or SJR but still have indicators of regional and local impact. Hopefully, there will also be a more proactive role in the admission of these journals into the databases. It is important to point out here that the researchers and groups classification has already started to use these categories to rank researchers.

We need to prepare ourselves to face this new situation, aiming to accelerate our strategic plan towards better indicators of content quality, editorial quality, accessibility, visibility, diffusion and index coverage. This will translate into more work, given the new demands put in place by the system, but we are sure that our growing process of improvement in quality and the trust placed by researchers on us over the last ten years give us an advantage.
