Letter from the Director of the Military Academy

This issue of the Colombian Journal for Military Studies and related fields, ‘Revista Científica General José María Córdova’ presents twelve papers from different areas of study which integrate the knowledge of the General José María Córdova Military School. Each issue of the Journal shows the Institution´s commitment to science and academics in order to strengthen the studies in military sciences and other related areas. A summary of the content of this issue is featured below.

The Military Studies section has the following three articles: “Conceptual development of the Revolution in Military Affairs,” written by Doctor Guillem Colom Piella, Professor in International Security at the University Pablo de Olavide, Spain; “Applied systemic geopolitics: a model for understanding the changing dynamics of the international system,” by Vicente Torrijos Rivera, PhD in International Relations and Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the Universidad del Rosario (University of Rosario), and by the student Andrés Pérez Carvajal, Faculty of Political Science and Government at the same university; “The Diversionary Theory of War,” by Raúl Daniel Niño Buitrago, PhD student, Professor in Latin American Politics at the Universidad Nueva Granada (Nueva Granada University), and Julián Iregui Roa, political scientist and researcher.

The Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law section contains the articles “Migration and Human Rights. The Case of the Andean Community,” by the Professors Gina Benavides Llerena and Gardenia Chávez Núñez of the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Andean University Simón Bolívar), Ecuador; “Considerations on social mobility and household utilities in Bogotá, 2004-2011,” by Professors Camilo Andrés Cajamarca and Verena Lovich Villamizar; “The rigid rules to determine the law applicable to international contracts in the European Unión. Evolution or regression?,” by the PhD in Law William Fernando Martínez Luna, Professor at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano (Jorge Tadeo Lozano University).

The Education section consists of three articles: “The research training in Public Accountancy: An issue of concern to the university professor,” by the PhD Roberto Antonio Ríos León, a resulting paper from his doctoral thesis, Universidad de Granada (University of Granada), España, and with the qualification apto cum laude; “Vital Symbiosis to Describe Cyberbullying in Colombia,” by the postdocs in Communication, Education and Culture Isaac Rincón Rueda and William Darío Ávila Díaz, Professors at the Universidad Santo Tomás (Santo Tomas University); “The Shaping of Professional Profiles in Higher Education and its Implications for the Curriculum,” by Karolina González, Adriana Mortigo and Norma Berdugo, Professors at the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (Nueva Granada Military University).

The Science and Technology section contains two articles: “Preparation of sand specimens for tiaxial testing by means of a controlled tamping method”, by the PhDs Javier Fernando Camacho Tauta, Fausto Andrés Molina Gómez and Óscar Javier Reyes Ortiz; “Application of Accountametrics as a Social Technology in Cases Environmental Man-made Disasters An Approach” by the Professors Amparo Elizabeth Pérez Pita and Rosa Trujillo Rendón, Universidad Libre de Colombia (Free University of Colombia).

Lastly, the History section has the article “From the lack of knowledge to contextualization: looking to gender as an analytical category,” by the doctoral candidate Luz Alexandra Garzón Ospina, researcher at the Faculty of Military Sciences of the Escuela Militar de Cadetes “General José María Córdova” (“General José María Córdova” Military Cadet School).

We kindly encourage all members of the academic community to publish their scientific articles on military studies in Spanish, English, French or Portuguese, for the next issues of the General José María Córdova Military Journal (Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova, issn 1900-6586).
