We are now ranked A2 in Publindex: An achievement that opens challenges regarding our journal's visibility

The National Indexing System for Specialized Publications in Science, Technology and Innovation CT + I (Publindex) ranked the CES Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science an A2 Publindex ranking. This occurred in the first update of the 2012 IBN and happened despite of the short history of our journal.

I remember eight years ago when in our first issue we defended the journal's vocation and publication guidelines to the academic and scientific community. At that time we had the support and guidance of the CES University Research Directorate (now Directorate of Knowledge Management).

From my perspective, the key factors for this achievement have been the strict compliance with the journal's declared periodicity and the constant search for improving its scientific and editorial quality. However, we would't think that everything runs like a clockwork. Among other things, we still need to improve the visibility of the research papers. Visibility will iimprove by increasing circulation, accessibility, distribution channels, and integration into national and internationally recognized indexes and bibliographic databases.

Visibility is currently is measured by the Impact Factor, which is mainly based on the number of citations to articles in a period of time. Herein lies our current challenge: to get our articles cited by other scientific journals, which requires close monitoring of our scientific and editorial quality.

Now, when we founded the CES Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, it was conceived as a freeaccess electronic publication in order to facilitate a wider circulation, greater accessibility, and visibility. The journal is currently supported by a versatile technology environment which allows reception of information from different mobile devices.

Our journal is indexed in various databases, directories, and catalogs, including SciELO, Lilacs, Latindex, Ebsco, Hinari, Proquest, Revivec, Cabi, Doaj, Periodica, Ulrich Web, Dialnet, Washington State University Libraries, Academic Onefile, Gale Thomson, Imbiomed, Academic Report (Reporte Academico), and the Library of the Biotechnology Institute of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. One of the remaining tasks will be to ensure inclusion into Thomson Reuters and Scopus citation indexes.

When we received the good news regarding the indexing of CES Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Animal science in Publindex A2 ranking we were very satisfied. We hope to have the strength to confront the great challenges ahead without losing our misión that keeps us true to our ethical and moral principles. In this way we will achieve the goals and objectives of fulfilling the duty and social responsibility of our journal.

As an incentive regarding our new challenges, here is this Latin phrase by an anonymous author: "Forsan Feliciter Fideliter Fortiter" (Strength, Loyalty, Perhaps Happiness).
