The main objective is to present a historical analysis of the behavior and evolution of published documents related to the subject of disc brakes across the years; for this purpose, the data was collected from the Scopus database and analyzed with the software R-Bibliometrix and VOSviewer. The results showed that 1,584 documents were published mainly in English by 2,971 authors from different parts of the world, with a growth rate of 8.78% from 1964 to 2020. Finally, the most representative journal on this topic is SAE Technical Articles, with 241 articles in quartile Q2. On the other hand, current trends in publications are established on optimizing the mechanical and chemical properties of the materials and components used in disc brakes, mainly related to geometry and performance.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen En el presente artículo se llevó a cabo el análisis bibliométrico del estudio de frenos de disco en aplicaciones de la industria automotriz. El objetivo principal es presentar un análisis histórico del comportamiento y evolución de documentos publicados relacionados con la temática de los frenos de disco a lo largo de los años; para este propósito, los datos fueron recopilados desde la base de datos Scopus y analizados con los softwares R-Bibliometrix y VOSviewer. Los resultados mostraron que 1,584 documentos fueron publicados principalmente en inglés por 2,971 autores de diferentes partes del mundo, con una tasa de crecimiento de 8.78% desde 1964 hasta 2020. Finalmente, la revista más representativa en este tópico es la revista SAE Technical papers con 241 artículos, en cuartil Q2. Por otra parte, las tendencias actuales de las publicaciones se establecen en la optimización de las propiedades mecánicas y químicas de los materiales, y componentes utilizados en los frenos de disco, relacionados principalmente con la geometría y desempeño.]]></p></abstract>
