Three methods were selected and evaluated, and the cross-industry standard process for data mining (CRISP-DM) was used as a reference. The methodology was applied to a real case study: an agro-industrial company, using a commercial business intelligence application, to find corrective measures to improve the management of the company's electricity supply. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that with low-cost computational tools, it is possible to visualize and control parameters of the electrical supply, group the consumption of reactive energy for an adequate selection of steps in a capacitor bank. Additionally, with a minimum knowledge of modeling, data analysis, and the electricity sector, these tools are not only applied in commercial matters but also in the management of electricity supply.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El objetivo del presente artículo es presentar una metodologia basada en Business Intelligence en una pequena y mediana empresa. Se eligieron y evaluaron tres métodos y de ellos se tomó como referencia el CRISP-DM (Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining). Se aplicó la metodologia a un caso de estudio real: una empresa agroindustrial, utilizando una aplicación de Business Intelligence comercial encontrándose medidas correctivas que mejorarán la gestión del suministro eléctrico de la empresa. Basado en los resultados del estudio se puede concluir que con herramientas computacionales de bajo costo se puede visualizar y controlar parámetros del suministro eléctrico, agrupar los consumos de energía reactiva para una adecuada selección de pasos en un banco de condensadores y que, con unos mínimos conocimientos de modelado, análisis de datos y del sector eléctrico, estas herramientas no solo tienen aplicación en materia comercial sino también en la gestión del suministro eléctrico.]]></p></abstract>
