The commercialization of Cannabis products has flourished due to these properties, highlighting the need to develop analytical methods for quality control of products marketed for medicinal purposes, as well as for Cannabis research. The objective of this work was to develop an HPLC-DAD-based analytical method for Cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabinol (CBN), and Tetrahydrocannabinol, (&#8710;9-THC) cannabinoids tests in commercial Cannabis oils and plant material samples. Regarding the suitability of the system, the developed analytical method exhibited symmetrical peaks, with good resolution and symmetry. The system&#8217;s precision was adequate, with relative standard deviation (%RSD) values of less than 5%, and accuracy in terms of recovery greater than 90% for the extractions. Analysis of commercial samples revealed high &#8710;9-THC content (2.6-42.55 mg/mL) and low CBD content (0-4.3 mg/mL). The plant material sample analyzed correspond to a non-psychoactive chemotype (&#8710;9-THC &#8804; 1%) with a higher CBD content (8.0 mg/g). Considering the above, the developed method is suitable for the analysis of plant material and cannabis oils.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Las propiedades terapéuticas de Cannabis sativa han sido ampliamente investigadas y se convierten en un tema de gran importancia para el tratamiento de enfermedades como epilepsia, manejo del dolor en pacientes con cáncer, artritis, Parkinson, entre otras. La comercialización de productos derivados del Cannabis ha tenido un importante auge por las propiedades mencionadas anteriormente, por ello la necesidad de desarrollar métodos analíticos para el control de calidad de productos que se comercializan con propósitos medicinales, así como en la investigación en Cannabis. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue el desarrollo de un método analítico por HPLC-DAD para el análisis de los cannabinoides CBD, CBN y &#8710;9-THC, en muestras de aceites comerciales de Cannabis y en material vegetal. El método analítico desarrollado en cuanto a la idoneidad del sistema presentó picos simétricos, con una buena resolución y simetría. La precisión del sistema fue adecuada, con valores de RSD inferiores al 5% y exactitud en términos de recuperación superiores al 90% para las extracciones. Estas características analíticas le confieren al método una adecuada identificación de los compuestos de interés en matrices complejas. Los análisis de las muestras comerciales dieron como resultado un alto contenido de &#8710;9-THC (2,6-42,55 mg/mL) y bajo contenido de CBD (0-4,3 mg/mL). La muestra de material vegetal analizada corresponde a un quimiotipo no psicoactivo (&#8710;9-THC &#8804; 1%) con mayor contenido de CBD (8,0 mg/g). Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior, el método desarrollado es adecuado para ser utilizado en el análisis de material vegetal y aceites de cannabis.]]></p></abstract>
