<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0120-04882003000200002&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0120-04882003000200002&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0120-04882003000200002&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[En el presente trabajo se determinó el efecto de diferentes condiciones de cultivo y sustratos potenciales inductores de virulencia sobre la germinación, la adherencia y la hidrofobicidad de los conidios de Metarhizium anisopliae y su relación con la actividad biocontroladora sobre la langosta llanera Rhammatocerus schistocercoides. El hongo se cultivó en medios líquidos y sólidos, sin suple-mentar y suplementados con los potenciales inductores de virulencia (quitina coloidal, homogeneizado de alas y patas de langosta y salvado de trigo). Se utilizó la cepa Mt004 que en trabajos previos presentó alta actividad biocontroladora y la cepa Mt006 que demostró baja actividad contra este insecto. Con los conidios obtenidos a partir de los medios de cultivos mencionados, se realizó un bioensayo, encontrándose en todos los casos, mayor actividad biocontroladora con la cepa Mt004 que con la cepa Mt006. De otra parte, en ambas cepas se observó que todos los sustratos ejercieron algún efecto sobre los parámetros evaluados. Sin embargo, la mayor mortalidad se obtuvo con los conidios provenientes del cultivo líquido suplementado con alas y patas de langosta y con salvado de trigo sugiriendo que estos sustratos podrían ejercer un efecto inductor en la virulencia del hongo, si se tíeíie en cuenta que la qerminación adherencia hidrofobicidad de los conidios producidos, también se incrementó. Los resultados obtenidos indican que el tipo de medio de cultivo y su composición determinan las características de la biomasa producida, las cuales pueden estar relacionadas con la virulencia de la misma.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The objective of the present work was to determine the effect of different culture conditions and potential virulence inductor substrates in the germination, adherence and hidrophobicity of Metarhizium anisopliae conidia and its relationship with the biocontrol activity over Rhammatocerus schistocercoides. The fungus was cultured in liquid and solid media, supplemented or not with the potential virulence inductors (colloidal chitin, homogenized of locust wings and legs and wheat bran). Two M. anisopliae strains were evaluated, the isolate Mt004 which, in previous studies, demonstrated high activity against locust, and the isolate Mt006 which presented low biocontrol activity against this insect. Produced conidia were used in a bioassay and in all cases the highest biocontrol activity was obtained with the strain Mt004. Evaluated substrates produced an effect over measured parameters with both strains however, the highest mortality was obtained with conidia produced in liquid culture media supplemented with homogenized of locust wings and legs and wheat bran, suggesting that these substrates had a virulence inductor effect, considering that germination, adherence and hidrophobicity of these conidia were also increased. The results indícate that the fungus culture médium determines the characteristics of the produced biomass, which could be related to its virulence.]]></p></abstract>
