Method: Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was implemented to investigate the mediating role of Connection on the association between Positive Identity and Purpose in Life in Chilean youth. 261 participants completed a cross-sectional online survey through Qualtrics that included the following scales: The Developmental Assets Profile, the 5Cs short-form questionnaire of PYD, and The Abbreviated Purpose in Life Scale.  Results: The findings indicated positive and significative correlations across all the studied variables and a good model fit for the hypothesised simple mediation, in which Connection partially mediated the effect of Positive Identity on young Chileans&#8217; Purpose in Life.  Conclusions: The findings highlight the role of Positive Identity and Connection to Purpose in Life in Chilean emerging adults and are broadly consistent with previous local and international PYD inquiries.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Introducción: El desarrollo positivo juvenil (PYD, por su sigla en inglés) comprende y se focaliza en los activos de los jóvenes en lugar de sus debilidades, promoviendo resultados de desarrollo positivo y una transición exitosa a la edad adulta.  Método: Se implementó un modelamiento de ecuaciones estructurales (SEM) para investigar el papel mediador de la conexión en la asociación entre identidad positiva y propósito en la vida en jóvenes chilenos. 261 participantes completaron una encuesta transversal en línea por medio de Qualtrics que incluía las siguientes escalas: el perfil de activos del desarrollo, el cuestionario breve de las 5 C del PYD y la escala abreviada de propósito en la vida.  Resultados: Los hallazgos indicaron correlaciones positivas y significativas entre todas las variables estudiadas y un buen ajuste del modelo para la mediación simple hipotetizada, en la que la conexión medió parcialmente el efecto de la identidad positiva en el propósito en la vida de los jóvenes chilenos.  Conclusiones: Los hallazgos resaltan el papel de la identidad positiva y la conexión con el propósito de la vida en los adultos emergentes chilenos y son ampliamente consistentes con investigaciones previas del PYD locales e internacionales.]]></p></abstract>
