Se argumenta la naturaleza cognitiva de estas competencias a partir de un análisis comparativo con las competencias en información, destacando su efecto en una nueva brecha digital. Se abordan las propiedades inherentes de las competencias en comunicación a partir de la cultura participativa de modo que se hace precisa una especialidad académica propia, laNew Media Literacy, cuyos fundamentos se argumentan mediante un análisis de sus agentes, actores, lenguaje, contexto y canal, con sus potencialidades, así como de la necesidad de un modelo evaluativo propio.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This analysis begins showing the relevance of content connections in digital and virtual settings. It is based on social network potentialities and its instruments, and the process is based on interaction and communication, and it requires the acquisition of suitable competencies. The cognitive nature of these competencies is based on a comparative analysis with information competencies, and their effect on the new digital gap. The inherent properties of communication competence are addressed based on participative culture, so a personal academic specialty is necessary, New Media Literacy which has principles that are argued using an analysis of actors, language, context, message and channel including their potentialities, and a need to have its own evaluation model.]]></p></abstract>
