Dicho semanario, de corte magazinesco y sensacionalista, no solo le dio el apelativo de Chacal de Nahueltoro al principal protagonista de este hecho de sangre, sino que, además, a través de diversas estrategias de presentación de contenidos textuales y visuales, recontextualizó su vida y acciones para transformarlo finalmente en una víctima de la sociedad, argumento que cobró más sentido al momento de producirse su fusilamiento en abril de 1963.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Through the study of the crime committed against Rosa Rivas and her five daughters in the rural sector of Nahueltoro, in central-southern Chile, in August of i960, the article seeks to understand the construction and media transformation of the criminal, carried out by a specific print magazine, the weekly Vea. In its sensationalist tabloid style, it not only referred to the protagonist of the bloody deed as Chacal de Nahueltoro, but also re-contextualized his life and actions through diverse strategies for the presentation of textual and visual contents, and ended up transforming him into a victim of society, an argument that acquired even more sense when he was finally shot to death in April of 1963.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO Através do estudo do crime cometido contra a camponesa Rosa Rivas e suas cinco filhas na zona rural de Nahueltoro, localizada no centro-sul do Chile, em agosto de 1960, busca-se compreender a construção e a transformação midiática do assassino que foram realizadas por um meio impresso em particular: a revista Vea. O referido semanário, de corte variado e sensacionalista, não só deu o nome de Chacal de Nahueltoro ao principal protagonista desse evento sangrento, mas também, através de várias estratégias de apresentação de conteúdo textual e visual, recontextualizou sua vida e ações para, finalmente, transformá-lo em uma vítima da sociedade, argumento que fazia mais sentido na época de forjar seu fusilamento, em abril de 1963.]]></p></abstract>
