Ante las limitaciones presupuestales de los municipios, es importante contar con métodos de mantenimiento preventivo y correctivo de bajo costo frente a las alternativas existentes. La estabilización de suelos con subproductos industriales procesados es una alternativa para mejorar los niveles de servicio de las vías y para reducir la producción de sedimentos. En este artículo se presenta un caso de estudio en el que se usan tres subproductos industriales procesados para la estabilización de un tramo de vía en Urrao, Antioquia. Para estimar los costos de la estabilización usando dichos subproductos, se adaptó el análisis de costos del ciclo de vida, en el que, además, se consideraron factores técnicos, geográficos y de disponibilidad de materiales. Se encontró que el costo de estabilización es muy sensible a la disponibilidad y ubicación de materiales, al volumen procesado y al costo de transporte. <abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Low serviceability of rural road networks in Colombia hinders economic development, and especially rural development. Municipalities have budget constraints, so it is important to develop low cost techniques for preventive and corrective maintenance of rural roads. Stabilization of rural roads using industrial by-products is an alternative to improve road conditions and to prevent negative impacts from sediment production. This paper presents a case study in which three non-commercial materials produced from industrial waste are used for stabilizing a road section in Urrao, Antioquia. Stabilization costs are compared for the three alternatives by adapting the life cycle cost analysis to the information available. In addition, assessed costs consider geographic and technical factors, as well as availability of residues. It is found that stabilization costs are highly sensitive to waste availability and location, to processed volumes and to transportation costs. Clasificación JEL: H54, O22, R42.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="fr"><p><![CDATA[Résumé: En Colombie, les faibles niveaux de service des routes tertiaires ont une incidence sur le développement économique et, en particulier, sur le développement rural. Compte tenu des limites budgétaires des municipalités, il est important de disposer de méthodes d&#8217;entretien préventif et correctif à faible coût par rapport aux solutions de remplacement existantes. La stabilisation des sols avec des sous-produits industriels transformés est une alternative pour améliorer les niveaux de service des routes, afin de réduire la production de sédiments. Cet article présente une étude de cas dans laquelle trois sous-produits industriels transformés sont utilisés pour la stabilisation d&#8217;un tronçon de voie conduisant à ville de Urrao, Antioquia (Colombie). Afin d&#8217;estimer les coûts de la stabilisation des sols à l&#8217;aide des sous-produits, une analyse du coût par la méthode de cycle de vie a été adaptée, en tenant compte des facteurs techniques, géographiques et de disponibilité des matériaux. Il a été constaté que le coût de la stabilisation de sols est très sensible à la disponibilité et à l&#8217;emplacement des matériaux, au volume traité et au coût du transport.
