Los extractos se obtuvieron en etanol por destilación a presión reducida y fueron caracterizados por pruebas cualitativas, así como por cromatografía de gases acoplada a espectrometría de masas (GC-MS). El análisis GC-MS reveló diferencias en los compuestos en Ichthyothere terminalis de acuerdo al lugar de procedencia. Las plantas procedentes de Cumaral contienen saponinas, cumarinas y taninos, mientras que las procedentes de Abrego contienen alcaloides taninos, cumarinas y flavoniodes. El extracto etanólico de Abrego presenta principalmente octadecandien-1-ol (53,5%), óxido de cariofileno (30,8%), hexadecanol (24,0%), trans-&#946;-cariofileno (13,6%), cicloisolongifoleno (11,6%), germancreno D (6,0%) y 9-octadecen-1-ol (8,0%). Las plantas de Cumaral presentan principalmente citronelal (46,4%), p-cimeno (6,4%), geraniol (5,0%) y citronelol (4,6%). Entre los compuestos químicos encontrados, varios poseen propiedades repelentes de acuerdo a los reportes etnobotánicos de la region Amazónica. Estudios adicionales podrán determinar la efectividad como repelente de los extractos de raíz de I. terminalis.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The phytochemical analysis of two extracts from Ichthyothere terminalis root which were collected in the localities of Cumaral (Meta) and Abrego (Norte de Santander), Colombia is reported Extracts were obtained with ethanol using distillation under reduced pressure and were characterized by qualitative assays and by gas chromatography coupled to a mass spectrometer (GC-MS) GC-MS analysis revealed differences in Ichthyothere terminalis compounds according to locality Plants from Cumaral contain saponins, coumarins, and tannins, while those from Abrego contain tannins, alkaloids, coumarins, and flavoniods Plants from Abrego contain octadecadien-1-ol (53 5%), caryophyllene oxide (30 8%), hexadecanol (24 0%), trans-&#946;-caryophyllene (13 6%), cycloisolongifolene (11 6%), germacrene D (6.0%), and 9-octadecen-1-ol (8.0%). Plants from Cumaral have citronellal (46.4%), p-cymene (6.4%), geraniol (5.0%), and citronellol (4.6%). Among the chemical compounds found, several have repellent properties, according to ethnobotanics reports from Amazonian Region. <abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Foi reportada a análise fitoquímica de dois extratos da raiz de Ichthyothere terminalis, coletadas nas localidades de Cumaral (departamento do Meta) e Abrego (Departamento de Norte de Santander) em Colômbia. Os extratos foram obtidos em etanol por destilação a pressão reduzida, assim como por cromatografia de gases acoplada a espectrometria de massas (GC-MS). A análise GC-MS revelou diferenças nos compostos em Ichthyothere terminalis de acordo a seu lugar de procedência. As plantas procedentes de Cumaral contêm saponinas, cumarinas e taninos por enquanto as procedentes de Abrego contêm alcaloides taninos, cumarinas e flavoniodes.
