El objetivo de la presente investigación fue evaluar las concentraciones totales y las fracciones de los metales pesados Cd, Pb, Zn, Fe, Mn, Ni, Cu, Cr y Co de la zona tabacalera Pinar del Río (Cuba) y su relación con las propiedades fisicoquímicas del suelo. Para el estudio fueron recolectadas a 20 cm de profundidad 59 muestras de tres tipos de suelos. Las concentraciones seudototales de los metales en los suelos son bajas e inferiores a los valores de prevención registrados para suelos cubanos. En general los metales pesados estudiados presentan una alta afinidad por las fracciones más estables del suelo, lo cual significa un bajo riesgo de transferencia al cultivo del tabaco o de acumulación en aguas subterráneas. Las concentraciones seudototales de metales pesados fueron bajas, inferiores a los valores de alerta establecidos para los suelos en la región. Los metales pesados estudiados estuvieron asociados principalmente con la fracción residual, la segunda fracción de mayor asociación con los metales fue la ligada a óxidos de manganeso y de hierro. El análisis de componente principales mostró que su principal fuente de procedencia es pedogenética y que estos elementos están estrechamente relacionados con la capacidad de intercambio catiónico y el contenido de calcio.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Knowledge of heavy metals presence in agricultural soils is important to prevent accumulation in cultivated plants. The objective of this research was to evaluate the total concentrations and fractions of the heavy metals Cd, Pb, Zn, Fe, Mn, Ni, Cu, Cr and Co from Pinar del Río, Cuba, tobacco crop and their relationship with soil physicochemical properties. For the study, 59 samples of three types of soils were collected at 20 cm depth. The pseudo-total concentrations of the metals in the soils are low and lower than the prevention values registered for Cuban soils. In general, heavy metals studied have a high affinity for the most stable fractions of the soil, which means a low risk of transfer to tobacco cultivation or accumulation in groundwater. Pseudo-total concentrations of heavy metals were low, below the alert values established for soils in the region. Assessed heavy metals were mainly associated with a residual fraction, the second fraction with the highest association with metals was that linked to manganese and iron oxides. The principal component analysis showed that its main source of origin is pedogenetics and that these elements are closely related to cation exchange capacity and calcium content.]]></p></abstract>
