El uso de la mecanización en terrenos agrícolas con pendientes acelera este proceso. Con el objetivo de evaluar el efecto de la labranza y de sistemas de asociación maíz-calabaza para el control del escurrimiento superficial y la erosión hídrica, se desarrolló esta investigación en el municipio de Villaflores, estado de Chiapas (México), durante un ciclo de temporal. Se establecieron 2 sistemas de labranza (mínima y cero) y 3 sistemas de cultivo (maíz, maíz-calabaza y calabaza), lo que generó 6 tratamientos con 3 réplicas. Para evaluar la pérdida de suelo por erosión hídrica, se implementaron lotes de escurrimiento con una repetición para cada tratamiento. La menor pérdida de suelo se cuantificó en el sistema cero de labranza maíz-calabaza con 1.08 t ha-1 año-1 y una pérdida acumulada de N, P2O5, K2O y MO de 10.38, 0.12, 0.48 y 197.14 kg ha-1 año-1 respectivamente, mientras que la mayor pérdida de suelo se observó en el sistema labranza mínima de maíz en monocultivo con 7.8 t ha-1 año-1, y 36.30 (N), 1.23 (P2O5), 1.80 (K2O) y 527.02 (MO) kg ha-1 año-1. La cobertura foliar de la calabaza contribuyó a reducir la pérdida de suelo en ambos sistemas de labranza, principalmente en cero labranza. El sistema de labranza mínima con asociación maíz-calabaza presentó 196 % de uso equivalente de la tierra (UET).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Water erosion is one of the main causes of soil degradation in tropical regions. The use of mechanized agriculture on sloped terrain accelerates this process. This research was conducted in the municipality of Villaflores, Chiapas, Mexico, during a rainfed growing season with the objective of evaluating the effects of different tillage and cropping association systems on surface runoff and water erosion control. Two tillage systems (minimum and zero tillage) and three cropping systems (corn, corn-pumpkin, and pumpkin) were implemented, resulting in six treatments with three replicates each. To evaluate soil loss due to water erosion, runoff plots were implemented in one replicate of each treatment. The lowest soil loss was measured in the no-tillage corn-squash system, with 1.08 t ha-1 yr-1, and cumulative losses of N, P2O5, K2O and OM of 10.38, 0.12, 0.48 and 197.14 kg ha-1 yr-1 respectively. In contrast, the highest soil loss occurred in the minimum tillage corn monoculture system, with 7.8 t ha-1 yr-1, and 36.30 (N), 1.23 (P2O5), 1.80 (K2O) and 527.02 (OM) kg ha-1 yr-1. The pumpkin foliar cover of pumpkin contributed to a reduction in soil loss in both tillage systems, mainly in the no-tillage system.
