Con la construcción de un panel balanceado para 1091 municipios en el periodo 2000-2011 y usando la metodología de diferencias en diferencias (Dif-Dif) se encontraron efectos opuestos y significativos en los municipios productores de los principales recursos naturales extraídos en Colombia: petróleo y carbón. Por un lado, un aumento de un 1 % en los precios internacionales del petróleo, incrementó en un 11% el número de casos promedio relacionados con corrupción investigados por la Procuraduría General de la Nación (PGN); por otro lado, un aumento de un 1 % en los precios internacionales del carbón redujo en un 1,5 % el número de casos investigados por la misma entidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract What is the impact of the incomes from natural resources extraction in the investigation related with corruption in Colombia? We constructed a balanced panel for 1091 municipalities with information from 2000 to 2011, and through a Dif-Dif methodology we found opposite and significant effects in the municipalities that produced the main natural resources extracted in Colombia: oil and coal. On the one hand, a raise of 1% in the international price of oil increased in 11% the average number of investigation related with corruption. On the other hand, a raise in 1% on the international price of coal reduced in 1.5% the average number of cases related with corruption investigated by PGN.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo ¿Qual é o impacto da renda proveniente do recurso natural na investigação relacionada à corrupção na Colômbia? Construímos um painel balanceado para 1.091 municípios com informações de 2000 a 2011, e através de uma metodologia Dif-Dif encontramos efeitos opostos e significativos nos municípios que produziram os principais recursos extraídos na Colômbia: Petróleo e Carvão. Por um lado, um aumento de 1% no preço internacional do petróleo aumenta em 11% o número médio de investigações relacionadas à corrupção.
