Metodología:  Utilizando un dinamómetro de fuerza de agarre de la mano, se registró la fuerza máxima de los participantes (30 personas). Durante la evaluación de esta fuerza, se ejecutó la tarea de demanda física, ejerciendo la fuerza en niveles bajo, medio y alto. Asimismo, se efectuaron tareas de demandas mentales, mediante la resolución de operaciones aritméticas en niveles bajo, medio y alto. Se definieron dos condiciones del experimento: 1) tarea llevada a cabo al evaluar la carga de trabajo física y la tarea mental combinada (primero se efectúa la demanda física y después la mental), y 2) tareas ejecutadas y evaluadas de forma simultánea (ambas demandas, física y mental, al mismo tiempo). Se utilizaron herramientas de carga mental (índice de carga de tareas de la nasa) para evaluar la carga de trabajo.  Resultados:  El tiempo para finalizar las tareas fue significativamente mayor de manera combinada que simultánea y el rendimiento fue significativamente mayor en las tareas combinadas que las simultáneas. Además, se observa que existen efectos considerables de la salud en la forma simultánea.  Conclusiones:  La forma combinada obtuvo mejores resultados que la simultánea y el índice de carga de tareas de la nasa Tradicional presentó un nivel de índice de carga de trabajo global significativamente mayor que el índice de carga de tareas de la nasa raw.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective:  To evaluate hand grip strength as an indicator of physical and mental workload in different conditions, in order to develop strategies for public health promotion.  Methodology:  Using a hand grip strength dynamometer, the maximum strength of the participants (30 persons) was recorded. During the evaluation of this strength, the physical demand task was executed, exercising strength at low, medium and high levels. Likewise, mental demand tasks were performed by solving arithmetic operations at low, medium and high levels. Two conditions of the experiment were defined: 1) task performed when evaluating the physical workload and the mental task combined (first the physical demand is performed and then the mental one), and 2) tasks performed and evaluated simultaneously (both physical and mental demands at the same time). Mental workload tools (nasa task load index) were used to assess workload.  Results:  Time to task completion was significantly longer for combined than simultaneous tasks and performance was significantly higher for combined than simultaneous tasks. In addition, it is observed that there are considerable health effects in the simultaneous form.  Conclusions:  The combined form performed better than the simultaneous form and the Traditional nasa task load index presented a significantly higher overall workload index level than the nasa raw task load index.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo  Objetivo:  Avaliar a força de preensão manual como um indicador da carga de trabalho físico e mental em diferentes condições, a fim de desenvolver estratégias para a promoção da saúde pública.  Metodología:  Usando um dinamômetro de força de preensão manual, foi registrada a força máxima de preensão manual dos participantes (30 pessoas). Durante a avaliação dessa força, foi realizada a tarefa de demanda física, exercitando a força em níveis baixo, médio e alto. Também foram realizadas tarefas de demanda mental, resolvendo operações aritméticas em níveis baixo, médio e alto. Foram definidas duas condições do experimento: 1) tarefa realizada ao avaliar a carga de trabalho física e a tarefa mental combinadas (a demanda física é realizada primeiro, seguida pela demanda mental) e 2) tarefas realizadas e avaliadas simultaneamente (demandas físicas e mentais ao mesmo tempo). Ferramentas de carga de trabalho mental (índice de carga de tarefas da NASA) foram usadas para avaliar a carga de trabalho.  Resultados:  o tempo para a conclusão da tarefa foi significativamente maior para as tarefas combinadas do que para as simultâneas, e o desempenho foi significativamente maior para as tarefas combinadas do que para as simultâneas. Além disso, foram observados efeitos significativos sobre a saúde na forma simultânea.  Conclusões:  A forma combinada teve um desempenho melhor do que a forma simultânea e o índice de carga de tarefa tradicional da nasa apresentou um nível de índice de carga de trabalho geral significativamente maior do que o índice de carga de tarefa bruta da nasa.]]></p></abstract>
