En la recolección de la información se utilizó un cuestionario compuesto de 24 preposiciones y una guía de entrevista semiestructurada con 5 preguntas centrales. En cada fase metodológica, se seleccionaron dos muestras, la primera integrada por 51 profesores considerados por sus estudiantes como &#8220;mejores docentes&#8221; y, la segunda, por 10 profesores elegidos de manera aleatoria de las cinco sedes que presenta la universidad en el Estado de Colima. Los resultados permiten identificar la prevalencia de cinco valores profesionales: compromiso, diálogo y cooperación y conocimiento e innovación. Sin embargo, también se advierten dilemas éticos relacionados con los bajos salarios, las dificultades para regular su autoridad en el aula, relacionarse con sus compañeros y trabajar en equipo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This research article analyzes the perceptions of professors at Universidad de Colima about the values that define their professional ethics in teaching and research, as well as the different dilemmas and/or conflicts that they face at work in order to achieve a balance between institutional demands and their personal needs. A 24-question questionnaire and a semi-structured interview guide with 5 central questions were used to collect the information. Two samples were selected in each methodological phase, the first consisting of 51 teachers considered by their students as &#8220;the best teachers&#8221; and the second, by 10 teachers randomly chosen from the university&#8217;s five locations in the State of Colima. The results allow us to identify the prevalence of five professional values: commitment, dialogue and cooperation, and knowledge and innovation. However, there are also ethical dilemmas related to low salaries, difficulties to regulate their authority in the classroom, interact with their peers and work as a team.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Este artigo de pesquisa analisa as percepções dos professores da Universidade de Coli-ma sobre os valores que definem sua ética profissional no âmbito da docência e da pes-quisa, assim como os diversos dilemas ou conflitos que afrontam em seu trabalho para conseguir um equilíbrio entre as exigências institucionais e suas necessidades pessoais. Na coleta de informações utilizamos um questionário conformado por 24 preposições e um roteiro de entrevista semiestruturada com 5 perguntas. Em cada fase metodológica selecionamos duas amostras, a primeira conformada por 51 professores considerados por seus alunos como &#8220;os melhores&#8221;; a segunda conformada por 10 professores escolhidos de forma aleatória dos cinco campuses da universidade no estado de Colima. Os resultados possibilitam identificar a prevalência de cinco valores profissionais: compromisso, diálogo e cooperação, e conhecimento e inovação. Contudo, também é possível advertir dilemas éticos relacionados com os baixos salários, as dificuldades para regular sua autoridade na sala de aula, se relacionar com seus colegas e trabalhar em equipe.]]></p></abstract>
