Within informal learning environments, they serve to improve their pedagogical role, which is sometimes difficult to be perceived by users. Nevertheless, serious games play another equally important role in museums, Art galleries or Science centres: engaging part of the surrounding society with this kind of institutions. This paper describes a "serious game" using new technology that includes Information and Communication Technologies and 3D digitized models to be played in informal learning settings. It aims to enhance their didactic role and look for social engagement. An experimental experience was carried out in the National Museum of Roman Art (Mérida, Spain) to attract and retain a specific group of people, teenagers, reluctant to visit archaeological museums most of the time since they considered them boring places. Finally, this experience served to assess the applicability and versatility as an educational resource of the game scheme proposed.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resume Os jogos sérios são um recurso poderoso no processo de ensino-aprendizagem em ambientes formais e informais de aprendizagem. Estes últimos servem para aprimorar seu papel pedagógico, que por vezes é difícil de ser percebido pelos usuários. No entanto, os jogos sérios desempenham outro papel igualmente importante em museus, galerias de arte ou centros de ciência: envolvendo parte da sociedade que é rodeada com este tipo de instituições. Este artigo descreve um "jogo sério" usando novas tecnologias para ser jogado em ambientes informais de aprendizagem. Este visa potencializar sua função didática e buscar o compromisso social. Foi realizada uma experiência experimental no Museo Nacional de Arte Romano (Mérida, Espanha) para atrair e reter um grupo específico de pessoas, adolescentes, relutantes em visitar museus arqueológicos na maioria das vezes por considerá-los lugares tediosos. Por fim, esta experiência serviu para avaliar a aplicabilidade e versatilidade do esquema de jogo proposto.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Los juegos serios son un recurso poderoso en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en entornos formales e informales de aprendizaje. Estos últimos sirven para mejorar su rol pedagógico, el cual en ocasiones es difícil de ser percibido por los usuarios. Sin embargo, los juegos serios ocupan otro papel igualmente importante en museos, galerías de arte o centros de ciencia: involucrando a parte de la sociedad que rodea con este tipo de instituciones. Este artículo de investigación describe un "juego serio" usando nueva tecnología para ser jugado en ambientes de aprendizaje informal. Este pretende potenciar su función didáctica y buscar el compromiso social. Se llevó a cabo una experiencia experimental en el Museo Nacional de Arte Romano (Mérida, España) para atraer y conservar a un grupo específico de personas, adolescentes, reacios a visitar los museos arqueológicos la mayor parte del tiempo por considerarlos lugares aburridos. Finalmente, esta experiencia sirvió para valorar la aplicabilidad y versatilidad del esquema de juego propuesto.]]></p></abstract>
