La erradicación de Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) se considera una estrategia preventiva crucial, pero el fracaso de los tratamientos convencionales ha impulsado la búsqueda de alternativas. Los productos naturales, como el extracto de Cannabis sativa L. (C. sativa), están siendo evaluados por su potencial terapéutico.  Objetivo: Evaluar la actividad inhibitoria in vitro del extracto de C. sativa, rico en cannabidiol, frente al crecimiento de H. pylori aislado de pacientes con enfermedad gástrica en Nariño, Colombia.  Metodología: Se aisló y purificó H. pylori a partir de biopsias gástricas de pacientes del Departamento de Nariño-Colombia. El extracto de C. sativa se obtuvo mediante extracción con dióxido de carbono (CO2) supercrítico. La actividad inhibitoria se evaluó utilizando el método de dilución en agar para determinar la concentración mínima inhibitoria (CMI).  Resultados: La CMI del extracto de C. sativa contra H. pylori varió entre 35 y 55 &#956;g/mL, indicando una eficacia significativa en la inhibición de la bacteria.  Discusión: El extracto de C. sativa mostró un notable efecto inhibitorio sobre H. pylori, sugiriendo su potencial como alternativa terapéutica frente a tratamientos convencionales fallidos.  Conclusion: El extracto de C. sativa rico en cannabidiol presenta una actividad inhibitoria efectiva in vitro contra H. pylori en pacientes de Nariño.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction: Gastric cancer in Nariño, Colombia, is a significant public health issue due to its high incidence and mortality. The eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is considered a crucial preventive strategy, but the failure of conventional treatments has driven the search for alternatives. Natural products, such as Cannabis sativa L. (C. sativa) extract, are being evaluated for their therapeutic potential.  Objective: To evaluate the in vitro inhibitory activity of C. sativa extract, rich in cannabidiol, against the growth of H. pylori isolated from patients with gastric disease in Nariño, Colombia.  Methodology:  H. pylori was isolated and purified from gastric biopsies of patients from the Department of Nariño, Colombia. The C. sativa extract was obtained through supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction. The inhibitory activity was assessed using the agar dilution method to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC).  Results: The MIC of C. sativa extract against H. pylori ranged from 35 to 55 &#956;g/mL, indicating significant efficacy in inhibiting the bacteria.  Discussion: The C. sativa extract demonstrated a notable inhibitory effect on H. pylori, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic alternative to conventional treatments that have failed.
