El estudio de caso de esta serie, considerada como ficción de calidad, permite abordar la relación entre ficción televisiva, memoria e historia reciente. La serie instala mensajes muy seleccionados y simplificados de la historia, pero permite ilustrar episodios reales de manera cautivante y visibilizar temas que habían sido silenciados durante la transición a la democracia. Así, este artículo muestra que las series son un formato que complementa la representación de la historia de acontecimientos relevantes para una determinada sociedad. En concreto, Los archivos del Cardenal construye un relato sobre la dictadura desde el punto de vista de la oposición política y propone una memoria colectiva en concordancia.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: During the commemoration of the fortieth anniversary of the military coup d'état in Chile, several new fiction programs that appeared on TV had repercussions in the public sphere. One of them was the series Los archivos del Cardenal. The case study of said series, which was considered good quality fiction, makes it possible to address the relation between TV fiction, memory, and recent history. The series presents very select, simplified messages about history, but also makes it possible to illustrate real episodes in a captivating way and to visualize topics that had been silenced during the transition to democracy. Thus, this article shows that TV series are a format that complements the representation of the history of important events for a given society. Concretely, Los archivos del Cardenal constructs a story about the dictatorship from the viewpoint of the political opposition and proposes a collective memory in concordance with it.]]></p></abstract>

O estudo de caso dessa série, considerada como ficção de qualidade, permite abordar a relação entre ficção televisiva, memória e história recente. A série apresenta mensagens muito selecionadas e simplificadas da história, mas permite ilustrar episódios reais de maneira cativante e visibilizar temas que tinham sido silenciados durante a transição à democracia. Assim, este artigo mostra que as séries são um formato que complementa a representação da história de acontecimentos relevantes para uma determinada sociedade.
