<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0121-246X2016000100342&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0121-246X2016000100342&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0121-246X2016000100342&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction:  the objective of this study was to analyze the behavior of 375 composite resin disks of five commercial systems (Z100 3M-ESPE®, Z250 3M-ESPE®, Z350 3M-ESPE®, Brilliant NG Coltene-Whaledent®and TPH3 Dentsply®) and five colors (A1, A2, A3, A3.5 and B2) when subjected to the action of high temperatures (200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000° C), in order to establish parameters to be implemented in methods of forensic dental identification in the case of burned, charred, or incinerated corpses or human remains.  Methods:  a descriptive pseudoexperimental in vitro study describing the macroscopic physical changes on the surface of composite resin disks subjected to high temperatures.  Results:  composite resin is highly resistant to high temperatures with no significant changes in macrostructure. These characteristic repetitive physical changes, such as dimensional stability, texture, color, fissures and cracks, fracture and shattering occur in specific temperature ranges in disks of different manufacturers.  Conclusions:  describing the behavior of composite resin in the presence of high temperatures can help guide the process of identification of individuals whose bodies have been subjected to the action of fire during the ante-post mortem comparisons. The in vitro information obtained in this study shows that the description of composite resin restorations is useful in forensic autopsy in the case of burned, charred, or incinerated corpses or human remains.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN  Introducción:  el objetivo del presente estudio fué estudiar el comportamiento de 375 discos elaborados en resina compuesta de cinco sistemas comerciales (Z100 3M-ESPE®, Z250 3M-ESPE®, Z350 3M-ESPE®, Brilliant NG Coltene-Whaledent®y TPH3 Dentsply®) y cinco colores (A1, A2, A3, A3.5 y B2) al ser sometidos a la acción de altas temperaturas (200, 400, 600, 800 y 1000 °C), con el propósito de establecer parámetros que se puedan aplicar a los métodos de identificación odontológica forense para el caso de cadáveres o restos humanos quemados, carbonizados o incinerados.  Métodos:  estudio descriptivo de naturaleza pseudoexperimental in vitro que describe los cambios físicos macroscópicos en la superficie de los discos de resina compuesta sometidos a altas temperaturas.  Resultados:  la resina compuesta presenta gran resistencia a las altas temperaturas, sin variar considerablemente su macroestructura. Dichos cambios físicos característicos y repetitivos, como estabilidad dimensional, textura, color, fisuras y grietas, fractura y estallido ocurren en rangos de temperatura específicos en los discos de cada marca comercial.  Conclusiones:  la descripción del comportamiento a la acción de las altas temperaturas de la resina compuesta puede guiar el proceso de identificación de un individuo cuyo cuerpo haya sido sometido a la acción del fuego durante el cotejo ante-postmortem. La información in vitro obtenida en este estudio demuestra que la descripción de las restauraciones realizadas en resina compuesta resulta de gran utilidad para documentar la necropsia médico-legal para el caso de cadáveres o restos humanos quemados, carbonizados e incinerados.]]></p></abstract>
