Estudios sobre el efecto que tiene la presencia de directores independientes, directores de diversas etnias y directores de distinto género buscan determinar si un directorio diverso tendrá distintos enfoques y opiniones que enriquecerán el proceso de toma de decisiones y mejorará la marcha de la empresa. En el caso particular de la presencia de la mujer, existen estudios previos para economías desarrolladas; sin embargo, no existen investigaciones para países como Perú, caracterizados por un dominio de la figura masculina en el ámbito empresarial. <abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: The importance of the composition of the Board of Directors of an organization is an issue that has received special attention in recent years. Studies about the effect of the presence of independent managers, managers of different ethnic groups and different genders, seek to determine whether a diverse management will have different approaches and opinions that may enrich the process of decision making and improve the performance of the company. In the particular case of women participation, there are previous studies on this matter for developed economies. However, there are no studies about countries such as Peru, characterized by a dominance of male figures in the business world. The role that women have played during the past few years in the Peruvian business environment has gained special importance and serves as motivation for this study to determine if their presence on the Board has any effect on the performance of the company, especially on its financial dimension. Using a sample of 137 non-financial companies listed on the Lima Stock Exchange, the main results show that female participation in the Board does not significantly affect the financial performance of an organization. Estudos sobre o efeito que tem a presença de diretores independentes, diretores de diversas etnias e de diferente gênero buscam determinar se uma direção diversa terá diferentes enfoques e opiniões que enriquecerão o processo de tomada de decisões e melhorará o andamento da empresa. No caso particular da presença da mulher, existem estudos anteriores para economias desenvolvidas; contudo, não existem pesquisas para países como o Peru, caracterizados por um domínio da figura masculina no âmbito empresarial. O papel que, há poucos anos, vem desempenhado a mulher no ambiente empresarial peruano tem ganhado especial relevância e serve como motivação deste trabalho para determinar se sua presença na direção de uma empresa tem algum efeito sobre o andamento desta, em especial sobre seu desempenho financeiro. Com uma amostra de 137 empresas não financeiras listadas na Bolsa de Valores de Lima, os principais resultados mostram que a presença feminina na direção não afeta significativamente o estado financeiro de uma empresa. <abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="fr"><p><![CDATA[Résumé: L'importance de la composition du comité directeur d'une entreprise est un sujet qui a reçu une attention particulière au cours des dernières années. Les études sur l'effet de la présence d'administrateurs indépendants, de directeurs de différents groupes ethniques et de genres différents cherchent à déterminer si un comité directeur divers aura des approches différentes et des opinions qui enrichiront le processus de prise de décisions et permettra d'améliorer le fonctionnement de l'entreprise. Dans le cas particulier de la présence des femmes, il y a des études précédentes pour les économies développées; cependant, il n'y a pas de recherches pour les cas des pays comme le Pérou, caractérisé par une prédominance de la figure masculine dans le monde des affaires. Le rôle que, depuis les dernières années, ont joué les femmes dans l'environnement de l'entreprise péruvienne, a acquis une importance particulière et sert de motivation pour cette étude, afin de déterminer si leur présence au sein du comité directeur d'une société a un effet sur son fonctionnement, en particulier sur sa performance financière. En partant d'un échantillon de 137 entreprises non financières cotées sur la Bourse de Lima, les principaux résultats montrent que la présence féminine dans le comité directeur ne modifie pas significativement la performance financière d'une entreprise.
