El propósito de este artículo es hacer una revisión de la ICS, enfocándose en el impacto de mecanismos de integración externa sobre el desempeño de las cadenas agroindustriales. Los resultados muestran que los mecanismos de integración externa más utilizados han sido el intercambio de información y la toma de decisiones conjunta, mientras que las medidas de desempeño usadas con mayor frecuencia han sido los costos, la utilidad, el rendimiento de la inversión y los niveles de inventario. La revisión identifica la necesidad de evaluar el impacto de varios mecanismos de manera simultánea en el desempeño de la Cadena de Suministro (CS), enfatizando la importancia de hacer investigación en mecanismos de integración de toma de decisiones conjunta, como el inventario administrado por el vendedor (VMI) y la planeación colaborativa, pronóstico y reabastecimiento (CPFR). En cuanto a la medición del desempeño, se requiere la inclusión de al menos un indicador por categoría (eficiencia, flexibilidad, capacidad de respuesta y calidad de los alimentos) del marco de desempeño descrito para cadenas agroindustriales; mientras que para la medición de desempeño logístico de cadenas agroindustriales se requiere mayor investigación en los modos (procesos de gestión) y medios (recursos) logísticos.]]></p></abstract>

The purpose of this paper is to review the SCI focused on the external integration mechanisms impact on agri food supply chain performance. The results shows that external integration mechanisms most used have been information sharing and joint decision making, while efficiency has been frequently used as a performance indicators. <body><![CDATA[<p><b>Resumen</b></p>      <p>La Integraci&oacute;n de la Cadena de Suministro (ICS) ha sido un tema ampliamente abordado debido a su importancia estrat&eacute;gica; no obstante, existen pocos estudios de integraci&oacute;n en cadenas agroindustriales. El prop&oacute;sito de este art&iacute;culo es hacer una revisi&oacute;n de la ICS, enfoc&aacute;ndose en el impacto de mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa sobre el desempe&ntilde;o de las cadenas agroindustriales. Introducci&oacute;n</b></p>      <p>La Integraci&oacute;n de la Cadena de Suministro (ICS) ha sido considerada como una estrategia fundamental para mejorar el desempe&ntilde;o de la Cadena de Suministro (CS) &#91;1&#93; &#91;2&#93; &#91;3&#93; &#91;4&#93; &#91;5&#93; &#91;6&#93; &#91;7&#93;. La importancia estrat&eacute;gica de la integraci&oacute;n empez&oacute; a verse reflejada con el SCOR (Supply Chain Reference Model, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s), propuesto por el Supply Chain Council en 1996, puesto que el modelo asume que todas las empresas llevan a cabo unos procesos estrat&eacute;gicos con proveedores y clientes para planear, abastecer, fabricar y entregar &#91;2&#93;. La integraci&oacute;n de los agentes de la CS facilita el desarrollo de nuevos productos y procesos &#91;8&#93;;asi mismo, la efectiva integraci&oacute;n de los agentes en la generaci&oacute;n de valor de la CS es clave para que las empresas logren ser competitivas, Ragatz et al. (citado en &#91;2&#93;). La integraci&oacute;n de la CS, tema creciente en a&ntilde;os recientes, se considera una nueva &aacute;rea de investigaci&oacute;n &#91;2&#93; &#91;6&#93; &#91;9&#93; &#91;10&#93; &#91;11&#93; &#91;12&#93;.</p>      <p>A medida que la gesti&oacute;n de la CS ha cobrado importancia, han surgido las primeras definiciones de integraci&oacute;n &#91;13&#93;, Pagell &#91;14&#93; afirma que &quot;todo el concepto de CS est&aacute; basado en la integraci&oacute;n&quot;.En este sentido, la integraci&oacute;n se define como el control unificado de un n&uacute;mero de procesos que anteriormente se llevaban a cabo de forma independiente, Webster (citado en &#91;6&#93;) .En el contexto de la CS, una definici&oacute;n aceptada ampliamente es la de Flynnetal. &#91;6&#93;, quienes definen la ICS como el grado en que una empresa colabora estrat&eacute;gicamente con los dem&aacute;s miembros de la CS y logra colaborativamente gestionar los procesos intra e interorganizacionales, con el fin de alcanzar un flujo efectivo y eficiente de productos o servicios, informaci&oacute;n y recursos financieros, para poder brindar el m&aacute;ximo valor a los consumidores a bajo costo y una alta velocidad.</p>      <p>La ICS ha sido abordada en diferentes dimensiones, algunos han optado un enfoque unidimensional &#91;3&#93; &#91;15&#93;; mientras otros en integraci&oacute;n externa e interna &#91;6&#93; &#91;9&#93; &#91;11&#93; &#91;12&#93; &#91;16&#93; &#91;17&#93; &#91;18&#93;. Se ha considerado la CS como un &uacute;nico sistema, en lugar de intentar optimizar los subsistemas que los compone, un perspectiva que incluye m&uacute;ltiples dimensiones &#91;10&#93; &#91;19&#93;.</p>      ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Por otra parte, tanto en la teor&iacute;a como en la pr&aacute;ctica se cree que con mayor integraci&oacute;n los beneficios para la CS crecer&aacute;n &#91;11&#93; &#91;20&#93; &#91;21&#93;. Sin embargo, no existe certeza sobre el grado en que la integraci&oacute;n impacta el desempe&ntilde;o de los miembros o de la CS como un todo &#91;2&#93; &#91;22&#93;. Los resultados en la literatura muestran inconsistencia, ya que algunos autores no han encontrado sus efectos en el desempe&ntilde;o &#91;23&#93;. Se han encontrado efectos directos &#91;11&#93;&#91;24&#93;&#91;25&#93; o hallado efectos indirectos &#91;10&#93; &#91;16&#93;.</p>      <p>Esta problem&aacute;tica podr&iacute;a explicarse por el diverso entendimiento alrededor del conceptode integraci&oacute;n en la CS &#91;5&#93;&#91;7&#93;&#91;13&#93;&#91;14&#93;&#91;16&#93;&#91;26&#93;&#91;27&#93;.A pesar de esto, los beneficios reportados de integrar los agentes de la CS para las empresas, han motivado a seguir la implementaci&oacute;n de mecanismos para la mejora del desempe&ntilde;o de la organizaci&oacute;n y de toda la CS. Algunos beneficios encontrados son la reducci&oacute;n de: elefecto l&aacute;tigo, costos, plazos de entrega, riesgos, as&iacute; como lograr mayor flexibilidad, entre otros &#91;28&#93; &#91;29&#93; &#91;30&#93;.</p>      <p>Los mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa para alcanzar estos beneficios pueden ser clasificados en integraci&oacute;n por contratos; integraci&oacute;n por medio de toma de decisiones conjunta, como el VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s) y el CPFR (Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s); integraci&oacute;n por informaci&oacute;n compartida e integraci&oacute;n por medio de la tecnolog&iacute;a de la informaci&oacute;n, como EDI (Electronic Data Interchange, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s), entre otros &#91;31&#93;.</p>      <p>Se encuentra un gran n&uacute;mero de art&iacute;culos de integraci&oacute;n en CS convencionales, pocos trabajos en CS de alimentos y a&uacute;n menos en CS agroalimentarias &#91;32&#93; &#91;33&#93;, debido a los retos que representan varios aspectos como la volatilidad de las condiciones meteorol&oacute;gicas, el car&aacute;cter perecedero de los productos, el entorno complejo reglamentario de la seguridad alimentaria, las restricciones de capacidad, los cambios de tendencia de vida de los consumidores, las preocupaciones medioambientales y la gran cantidad de actores involucrados &#91;34&#93; &#91;35&#93;.</p>      <p>El art&iacute;culo tiene como objetivo presentar una revisi&oacute;n de los estudios realizados en los mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa de la CS en cadenas agroindustriales, incluyendo el impacto en el desempe&ntilde;o en la CS y en la log&iacute;stica. El art&iacute;culo presenta en la secci&oacute;n 2, metodolog&iacute;a y revisi&oacute;n del estado actual de la literatura. En la secci&oacute;n 3, se aborda la definici&oacute;n de la integraci&oacute;n de la CS, los tipos de integraci&oacute;n en la CS, los beneficios y razones de integrar la CS y finalmente, la revisi&oacute;n de los estudios que han abordado el impacto de mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa en el desempe&ntilde;o de la CS y en la log&iacute;stica de las cadenas agroindustriales con el fin de identificar vac&iacute;os en la literatura actual. Por &uacute;ltimo, en la secci&oacute;n 4 se muestran las conclusiones.</p>      <p><b>2. Metodolog&iacute;a</b></p>      <p>La revisi&oacute;n del estado del arte se llev&oacute; a cabo a partir de la consulta de las siguientes bases de datos: ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, IEEE, Emerald y Scopus. En cada una de estas se realiz&oacute; la b&uacute;squeda en Title, Abstract y Keywords con los campos de b&uacute;squeda de la<a href="#t1"> Tabla I</a>. Los art&iacute;culos seleccionados fueron los comprendidos entre los a&ntilde;os 2000 y 2014;no obstante, tambi&eacute;n se incluyeron algunos art&iacute;culos seminales.</p>      <p align="center"><a name="t1"></a><img src="img/revistas/inge/v20n2/v20n2a1t1.jpg"></p>      <p>La primera revisi&oacute;n bibliogr&aacute;fica permiti&oacute; identificar la tendencia hist&oacute;rica en el campo de la integraci&oacute;n externa en CS (<a href="#f1">Figura 1</a>). La b&uacute;squeda tuvo como objetivo responder las siguientes preguntas &iquest;cu&aacute;l ha sido la evoluci&oacute;n del concepto de integraci&oacute;n?, &iquest;qu&eacute; diferencia existe entre la integraci&oacute;n, coordinaci&oacute;n, cooperaci&oacute;n y colaboraci&oacute;n?, &iquest;cu&aacute;les son los tipos de integraci&oacute;n?, &iquest;cu&aacute;les son las razones y beneficios de integrar la CS?</p>      <p align="center"><a name="f1"></a><img src="img/revistas/inge/v20n2/v20n2a1f1.jpg"></p>      ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Posteriormente, en una segunda b&uacute;squeda se identific&oacute; el comportamiento de las publicaciones referentes a la integraci&oacute;n externa en cadenas de suministro agroindustriales (<a href="#f2">Figura 2</a>). A partir del a&ntilde;o 2008 se produce un incremento en el n&uacute;mero de publicaciones, en los a&ntilde;os posteriores a 2008 se evidencia un aumento con poca variaci&oacute;n de un a&ntilde;o a otro. Es claro que han sido pocos los estudios de integraci&oacute;n externa en cadenas con productos perecederos (138 publicaciones en total); sin embargo, es un campo de estudio que est&aacute; tomando mayor relevancia.</p>      <p align="center"><a name="f2"></a><img src="img/revistas/inge/v20n2/v20n2a1f2.jpg"></p>      <p>La segunda b&uacute;squeda tuvo como objetivo determinar el estado del arte en cuanto a los estudios que han abordado el impacto de mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa en el desempe&ntilde;o de la CS y en la log&iacute;stica de las cadenas agroindustriales, para ello las preguntas planteadas fueron &iquest;c&oacute;mo es la relaci&oacute;n entre la integraci&oacute;n externa y el desempe&ntilde;o de la CS?, &iquest;qu&eacute; mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa existen?, y finalmente, &iquest;qu&eacute; medidas de desempe&ntilde;o, para la CS y la log&iacute;stica, son usadas en la cadena de suministro agroindustrial?</p>      <p><b>3. Integraci&oacute;n en la cadena de suministro agroindustrial</b></p>      <p>En esta secci&oacute;n se desarrolla un marco conceptual sobre la integraci&oacute;n de la CS y otros conceptos asociados, los tipos de integraci&oacute;n en la CS, los beneficios obtenidos por integrar la cadena y finalmente los mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa para el caso de las cadenas agroindustriales.</p>      <p><b>3.1. Evoluci&oacute;n del concepto de integraci&oacute;n </b></p>      <p>La mayor&iacute;a de los conceptos de ICS asumen la existencia de un flujo de bienes y un flujo de informaci&oacute;n a lo largo de la CS &#91;2&#93; &#91;3&#93; &#91;6&#93; &#91;14&#93; &#91;22&#93;. Sin embargo, no existe una definici&oacute;n &uacute;nica sobre la ICS &#91;13&#93; &#91;14&#93;. La ICS seg&uacute;n Clancy (citada en &#91;36&#93;) consiste en fortalecer los v&iacute;nculos de los componentes de la CS, a fin de mejorar la toma de decisiones y obtener a todas las partes de la cadena interactuando de una manera m&aacute;s eficiente. De acuerdo con Frohlich y Westbrook &#91;2&#93;, la ICS consiste en coordinar actividades operacionales compartidas, como el flujo de avance f&iacute;sico de las entregas entre proveedores, fabricantes y clientes.</p>      <p>Por otro lado,Stank,Keller,&amp;Daugherty &#91;16&#93; aseguran que la ICS consiste en la integraci&oacute;n de funciones internas, con proveedores y consumidores .O'Leary-Kelly&amp;Flores &#91;17&#93; definen la integraci&oacute;n como &quot;el grado en que las partes separadas trabajan de manera cooperativa para llegar a resultados mutuamente aceptables&quot;. De acuerdo con esta definici&oacute;n, la integraci&oacute;n engloba conceptos como cooperaci&oacute;n, coordinaci&oacute;n e interacci&oacute;n. Por su parte, Power &#91;22&#93; afirma que la ICS integra los procesos b&aacute;sicos a trav&eacute;s de los l&iacute;mites de la organizaci&oacute;n por medio de una clara comunicaci&oacute;n, asociaciones, alianzas y cooperaci&oacute;n.</p>      <p>A pesar de las diversas definiciones presentadas, la definici&oacute;n con mayor aceptaci&oacute;n de la ICS es la adoptada por Flynn et al. &#91;6&#93;: &quot;la integraci&oacute;n de la cadena de suministro es el grado en que una empresa colabora estrat&eacute;gicamente con los dem&aacute;s miembros de la CS y logra gestionar los procesos intra e inter-organizacionales, con el fin de alcanzar un flujo efectivo y eficiente de productos o servicios, informaci&oacute;n y recursos financieros, para brindar el m&aacute;ximo valor a los consumidores a bajo costo y una alta velocidad&quot;.</p>      <p>Las cadenas de suministro agroindustriales comprenden un conjunto de procesos desde el cultivo, producci&oacute;n o procesamiento, embalaje, almacenamiento, transporte, distribuci&oacute;n y comercializaci&oacute;n &#91;37&#93; &#91;38&#93;, los flujos son f&iacute;sicos, financieros, de informaci&oacute;n, de energ&iacute;a, con un ciclo de vida corto. Estos procesos y flujos se encuentran integrados gracias a los actores que la componen y sus relaciones, los cuales pueden ser instituciones, agricultores, productores, cooperativas agr&iacute;colas, industrias, transportadores, intermediarios, comerciantes mayoristas y minoristas y finalmente clientes &#91;39&#93; &#91;40&#93;.</p>      ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>La integraci&oacute;n ha sido motivada en cadenas agroindustriales por factores tecnol&oacute;gicos, regulatorios y financieros, tambi&eacute;n por consumidores cada vez m&aacute;s exigentes con la calidad y seguridad de los productos de corto ciclo de vida &#91;32&#93;; adem&aacute;s, tales cambios han alterado el contexto actual de los agentes que componen este tipo de cadenas, fomentando la integraci&oacute;n aguas arriba y aguas abajo &#91;39&#93;.</p>      <p>Los t&eacute;rminos integraci&oacute;n, coordinaci&oacute;n, colaboraci&oacute;n y cooperaci&oacute;n han sido usados indiscriminadamente en la literatura actual, sin embargo existen diferencias entre estos conceptos &#91;41&#93; &#91;42&#93;. Mientras la cooperaci&oacute;n se define como actuar o trabajar de manera conjunta por un objetivo com&uacute;n &#91;41&#93; &#91;42&#93;. Por su parte, la coordinaci&oacute;n se refiere a una cooperaci&oacute;n m&aacute;s directa y activa &#91;42&#93;, la colaboraci&oacute;n se define como el &quot;trabajo conjunto&quot; para un objetivo particular e involucra una mentalidad organizacional con una visi&oacute;n compartida para un plan de acci&oacute;n &#91;43&#93;.</p>      <p> A pesar de las diferencias entre estos conceptos, la cooperaci&oacute;n, coordinaci&oacute;n y colaboraci&oacute;n son complementarios entre s&iacute; &#91;31&#93; &#91;44&#93; y pueden ser utilizados en el contexto de la CS para describir los esfuerzos de integraci&oacute;n entre los socios y mejorar el desempe&ntilde;o global de la CS. En esta revisi&oacute;n se asume dicha complementariedad de los t&eacute;rminos; considerando de igual manera, que el principal prop&oacute;sito es aumentar el beneficio de todos los actores de la CS.</p>       <p><b>3.2. Tipos de integraci&oacute;n en la cadena de suministro  </b></p>      <p>En la literatura se han reconocido dos tipos de ICS: externa e interna &#91;6&#93; &#91;9&#93; &#91;10&#93; &#91;11&#93; &#91;12&#93; &#91;16&#93; &#91;17&#93; &#91;18&#93;. La integraci&oacute;n externa e interna desempe&ntilde;an papeles diferentes en la integraci&oacute;n de la CS, se describen a continuaci&oacute;n.</p>        <p><b>3.2.1. Integraci&oacute;n externa</b></p>      <p>La integraci&oacute;n externa se refiere al grado en que una gente puede relacionarse con los miembros m&aacute;s importantes de la CS (proveedores y consumidores) con el fin de estructurar sus estrategias interorganizacionales, procedimientos y comportamientos en un contexto colaborativo y sincronizado que permita cumplir con los requerimientos del cliente &#91;26&#93; &#91;16&#93;. La integraci&oacute;n externa representa el m&aacute;s alto nivel de la gesti&oacute;n de la CS &#91;6&#93; &#91;19&#93;, incluye alianzas estrat&eacute;gicas con los proveedores y consumidores, en donde la compaËœ n&iacute;a construye dichas relaciones estrat&eacute;gicas para poder conjuntamente desarrollar y aprovechar oportunidades del mercado &#91;9&#93;.</p>      <p>La gesti&oacute;n de la CS se ha incorporado como un factor clave en la industria agroalimentaria dada la necesidad de una integraci&oacute;n externa &#91;45&#93;. Asimismo, tanto la complejidad de las cadenas agroindustriales como los mercados cada vez m&aacute;s globalizados han agudizado la importancia de una cadena unificada por medio de mejores relaciones estrat&eacute;gicas y decisiones colaborativas con los dem&aacute;s agentes &#91;46&#93; &#91;47&#93;. En el caso espec&iacute;fico de las cadenas agroindustriales, la integraci&oacute;n externa puede darse entre los agricultores, cooperativas agr&iacute;colas, intermediaros, empresas agroindustriales, transportadoras, comerciantes mayoristas y minoristas, y finalmente clientes &#91;39&#93; &#91;48&#93;.</p>       <p><b>3.2.2. Integraci&oacute;n con proveedores</b></p>      <p>La integraci&oacute;n de proveedores consiste en proporcionar informaci&oacute;n entre ambas partes y participar mancomunadamente en la toma de decisiones. La integraci&oacute;n con los proveedores se caracteriza por la cooperaci&oacute;n existente entre el comprador y el proveedor de materia prima e insumos. Las relaciones podr&iacute;an potencialmente incluir iniciativas y programas que fomenten los v&iacute;nculos entre los socios &#91;7&#93;. La integraci&oacute;n con los proveedores est&aacute; vinculada con un mejor desempe&ntilde;o en la entrega de productos &#91;49&#93;.</p>      ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><b>3.2.3. Integraci&oacute;n con consumidores</b></p>      <p>La integraci&oacute;n con el cliente implica una adecuada interacci&oacute;n entre el cliente y los productos y procesos del fabricante &#91;50&#93;. La integraci&oacute;n con el consumidor comprende los flujos de informaci&oacute;n, materiales y realimentaci&oacute;n de informaci&oacute;n del consumidor a la empresa &#91;2&#93;&#91;51&#93; e incluye la participaci&oacute;n del cliente en los procesos de la organizaci&oacute;n, especialmente por los cambios de tendencia de los consumidores de productos perecederos &#91;35&#93;.</p>      <p><b>3.2.4. Integraci&oacute;n interna</b></p>      <p>La integraci&oacute;n interna se refiere al grado en que los departamentos en una empresa funcionan como parte de un proceso integrado, se relaciona con la coordinaci&oacute;n, colaboraci&oacute;n e integraci&oacute;n de &aacute;reas funcionales dentro de la compaËœ n&iacute;a &#91;20&#93;. La integraci&oacute;n interna rompe las barreras funcionales y promueve la cooperaci&oacute;n entre los departamentos con el fin de cumplir los requisitos de los clientes, en lugar de operar dentro del esquema de departamentalizaci&oacute;n y especializaci&oacute;n tradicional &#91;6&#93;. Esta integraci&oacute;n interna es dif&iacute;cil visualizarla en algunos de los actores de la cadena agroindustrial, como es el caso del agricultor y los comerciantes, tanto mayoristas como minoristas. Esto a su vez aumenta la falta de cooperaci&oacute;n y transparencia &#91;52&#93;.</p>      <p>Algunos elementos importantes de la integraci&oacute;n interna incluyen el intercambio de informaci&oacute;n entre las &aacute;reas funcionales de la organizaci&oacute;n, la planeaci&oacute;n conjunta, la cooperaci&oacute;n entre funciones estrat&eacute;gicas y los equipos interfuncionales &#91;6&#93;. Cada funci&oacute;n (subsistema) en una empresa (sistema) debe ser integrado para que la organizaci&oacute;n tenga una alto nivel de desempe&ntilde;o &#91;53&#93;.</p>      <p><b>3.3. Beneficios de la integraci&oacute;n de la cadena de suministro</b></p>      <p>La integraci&oacute;n de la CS se considera de gran importancia estrat&eacute;gica &#91;2&#93; &#91;3&#93; &#91;5&#93;; por eso existen diversas razones y beneficios para que los actores involucrados deseen integrarse interna o externamente, aun cuando se han reportado algunos problemas de la integraci&oacute;n como: diferencias en los intereses de los miembros de la CS, conflictos entre los objetivos de cada agente, desacuerdos sobre la toma de decisiones y acciones conjuntas, falta de transparencia de la informaci&oacute;n y altos costos de inversi&oacute;n para implementar sistemas de informaci&oacute;n entre las organizaciones &#91;3&#93; &#91;31&#93; &#91;54&#93; &#91;55&#93;.</p>      <p>En las cadenas agroindustriales la principal barrera es la complejidad de la industria y la heterogeneidad de su estructura, debido a que est&aacute; compuesta por una gran cantidad de agentes, lo que resulta en numerosas interacciones, volviendo problem&aacute;tico el intercambio de informaci&oacute;n y aumentando la posibilidad de incompatibilidad, desde el punto de vista tecnol&oacute;gico y de los sistemas para compartir informaci&oacute;n. Asimismo, en las cadenas agr&iacute;colas existe asimetr&iacute;a en el poder ya que las empresas con mayor dominio lo ejercen imponiendo las reglas de colaboraci&oacute;n, lo cual aumenta continuamente el desbalance de los beneficios impidiendo que los dem&aacute;s agentes busquen integrarse &#91;39&#93;.</p>      <p>Los beneficios y razones que motivan a las empresas a integrarse se condensan en la <a href="#t2">tabla II</a>.</p>     <p align="center"><a name="t2"></a><img src="img/revistas/inge/v20n2/v20n2a1t2.jpg"> </p>      ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>En las cadenas agroindustriales se pueden agregar otros beneficios particulares dadas las caracter&iacute;sticas inherentes de la misma. Los principales beneficios para los dos agentes m&aacute;s importantes de la cadena agroindustrial, agricultor y empresa agroindustrial se presentan en la <a href="#t3">tabla III</a>.</p>       <p align="center"><a name="t3"></a><img src="img/revistas/inge/v20n2/v20n2a1t3.jpg"></p>      <p>Los beneficios son numerosos, pero no se debe evaluar solamente el valor potencial de la integraci&oacute;n, tambi&eacute;n es necesario decidir qu&eacute; tan duraderos ser&aacute;n los v&iacute;nculos con las partes interesadas&#91;3&#93;. Asi mismo, es esencial investigar las condiciones bajo las cuales la integraci&oacute;n es beneficiosa y no genera &uacute;nicamente altos costos y flujos imprecisos de informaci&oacute;n &#91;31&#93;.</p>      <p><b>3.4. Mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa y su impacto en el desempe&ntilde;o</b></p>      <p>En este apartado se da a conocer la relaci&oacute;n existente entre la integraci&oacute;n externa y el desempe&ntilde;o de la CS. Posteriormente,con base en la taxonom&iacute;a propuesta (<a href="#f3">Figura 3</a>) se muestran los estudios que han analizado los efectos de mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa (contratos, toma de decisiones conjunta, intercambio de informaci&oacute;n y tecnolog&iacute;as de informaci&oacute;n), en el desempe&ntilde;o de la CS agroindustrial (eficiencia, flexibilidad, capacidad de respuesta, calidad de los alimentos) y en el desempe&ntilde;o log&iacute;stico, bien sea en los modos (aprovisionamiento, inventarios, distribuci&oacute;n) o en los medios (sistemas de informaci&oacute;n y trazabilidad, embalaje , almacenes, transporte e infraestructura).</p>        <p align="center"><a name="f3"></a><img src="img/revistas/inge/v20n2/v20n2a1f3.jpg"></p>        <p><b>3.4.1. Relaci&oacute;n entre la integraci&oacute;n y el desempe&ntilde;o de la cadena de suministro</b></p>        <p>La integraci&oacute;n de la CS es considerado uno de los aspectos m&aacute;s importantes para mejorar el desempe&ntilde;o global de la cadena, especialmente en el rendimiento operativo y financiero &#91;2&#93;&#91;5&#93; &#91;51&#93;; sin embargo, no en todos los casos la integraci&oacute;n puede ser una estrategia efectiva para mejorar el desempe&ntilde;o &#91;13&#93; &#91;22&#93; &#91;61&#93;. Las conceptualizaciones incompletas han dado lugar a que los resultados sean contradictorios, en cuanto a la relaci&oacute;n entre el rendimiento operativo y la integraci&oacute;n de la CS &#91;16&#93; &#91;14&#93; &#91;26&#93; &#91;27&#93; &#91;13&#93; &#91;5&#93; &#91;7&#93;, esta relaci&oacute;n no est&aacute; definida en su totalidad, por lo tanto sigue siendo un tema amplio de investigaci&oacute;n &#91;6&#93; &#91;13&#93;.</p>      <p>Se ha comprobado emp&iacute;ricamente la relaci&oacute;n positiva entre la integraci&oacute;n de proveedores y clientes con el desempe&ntilde;o de la CS &#91;2&#93; &#91;4&#93; &#91;6&#93; y el nivel de servicio y el desempe&ntilde;o de la organizaci&oacute;n &#91;10&#93;, el papel de la calidad, flexibilidad, entrega y costo entre el desempe&ntilde;o empresarial y la integraci&oacute;n de la CS &#91;15&#93;. Finalmente, el grado de integraci&oacute;n de la CS no indice significativamente en el desempe&ntilde;o de las empresa, puesto que no se ha comprobado la existencia de una relaci&oacute;n directa &#91;5&#93;, seg&uacute;n &#91;10&#93; y &#91;15&#93; esta relaci&oacute;n debe ser medida con otras variables.</p>        <p> En cadenas agroindustriales se ha tornado dif&iacute;cil la medici&oacute;n de su desempe&ntilde;o &#91;59&#93;, m&aacute;s a&uacute;n su relaci&oacute;n con la integraci&oacute;n. Han sido pocos los sistemas de medici&oacute;n de desempe&ntilde;o propuestos para cadenas agroindustriales &#91;35&#93;; en el 2000 aparece una propuesta para medir el desempe&ntilde;o log&iacute;stico en CS alimentarias, con indicadores clasificados en tres niveles jer&aacute;rquicos de desempe&ntilde;o: en la CS, en el nivel organizacional y del proceso de negocio &#91;62&#93;. Luego en 2006 se presenta un marco de medici&oacute;n teniendo en cuenta cuatro elementos: estructura de la red, procesos de negocio, gesti&oacute;n de la red y recursos, elementos relacionados directamente con los objetivos de la cadena: diferenciaci&oacute;n de la red, segmentaci&oacute;n del mercado, calidad integrada y optimizaci&oacute;n de la red, por lo tanto la medici&oacute;n del desempe&ntilde;o tiene un rol importante en el dise&ntilde;o y gesti&oacute;n de la CS &#91;48&#93;.</p>        ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Un sistema de medici&oacute;n de desempe&ntilde;o m&aacute;s completo y espec&iacute;fico para cadenas agroindustriales fue planteado en 2006, se bas&oacute; en la revisi&oacute;n de los principales KPI (Key Performance Indicator, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s) y los modelos SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s), Balanced Scorecard, Multi Criteria Analysis, DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s), Life Cycle Analysisy Activity Based Costing &#91;59&#93;.En este sentido,el marco conceptual para la medici&oacute;n del desempe&ntilde;o en cadenas agroindustriales se categoriz&oacute; en cuatro grupos: eficiencia, flexibilidad, capacidad de respuesta y calidad de los alimentos &#91;59&#93;. Posteriormente, este marco fue evaluado a trav&eacute;s de un caso de estudio en la CS de tomate en Alemania &#91;63&#93;.Los autores concluyeron que el marco conceptual era &uacute;til para calcular el desempe&ntilde;o en estas cadenas por su capacidad de medir cambios en los niveles de calidad a medida que se avanza por la CS, tiempos de producci&oacute;n extensos, estacionalidad de la producci&oacute;n, transporte y almac&eacute;n especial, entre otros. Adicionalmente, determinaron que el uso de cada indicador depende de los objetivos de la CS y de cada miembro de la cadena.</p>        <p><b>3.4.2. Mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa en cadenas agroindustriales</b></p>      <p>Para esta revisi&oacute;n los mecanismos de coordinaci&oacute;n, colaboraci&oacute;n y cooperaci&oacute;n se asumen como esfuerzos para lograr una adecuada integraci&oacute;n de los agentes de la CS. La literatura ha reportado importantes investigaciones sobre mecanismos de coordinaci&oacute;n e integraci&oacute;n, a pesar deello, existenpocosestudiossobre mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa aplicados a casos con productos perecederos &#91;64&#93;. La clasificaci&oacute;n adoptada para esta revisi&oacute;n se relaciona con los mecanismos categorizados por &#91;31&#93;, los cuales son: contratos en la CS, toma de decisiones conjunta, intercambio de informaci&oacute;n y tecnolog&iacute;as de la informaci&oacute;n (<a href="#t4">Tabla IV</a>).</p>      <p align="center"> <a name="t4" id="t4"></a><img src="img/revistas/inge/v20n2/v20n2a1t4.jpg"></p>      <p><b>3.4.2.1. Contratos</b></p>        <p>El uso de contratos para la integraci&oacute;n de la cadena de abastecimientos mejora las relaciones entre los eslabones de la cadena y permite una mejor gesti&oacute;n del riesgo por fluctuaciones en los inventarios y precios. El contrato se puede definir como un acuerdo entre dos partes, es un conjunto de cl&aacute;usulas que ofrece informaci&oacute;n adecuada, convirti&eacute;ndolo en un incentivo para garantizar la integraci&oacute;n y mejora del rendimiento de la CS &#91;65&#93;. Adicionalmente, los contratos especifican par&aacute;metros como: cantidad, calidad, tiempo y precio, con el fin de que el proveedor cumpla a cabalidad la orden del comprador &#91;31&#93;; es por eso que es uno de los mecanismos de mayor uso en las cadenas agroindustriales en general &#91;32&#93;, permitiendo mejorar directamente el nivel de eficiencia y sostenibilidad en la CS agroindustrial &#91;66&#93;.</p>        <p>Los contratos frecuentemente ofrecen a los agricultores importantes beneficios, como la reducci&oacute;n de los costos asociados con los flujos de ingresos inciertos, pueden facilitar la transferencia de nuevas tecnolog&iacute;as de producci&oacute;n, incluyendo avances en gen&eacute;tica, servicios nutricionales, fertilizantes y control de plagas. Los contratos pueden reducir costos de procesamiento y proporcionar a los consumidores productos m&aacute;s asequibles &#91;67&#93;.</p>        <p><b>3.4.2.2. Toma de decisiones conjunta</b></p>        <p>La toma de decisiones conjunta ayuda a resolver conflictos entre los miembros de la CS &#91;31&#93;. Los principales mecanismos de toma de decisi&oacute;n conjunta, que son considerados dentro de la revisi&oacute;n, son el inventario administrado por el vendedor y la planeaci&oacute;n colaborativa, pron&oacute;stico y reabastecimiento &#91;31&#93;&#91;43&#93;. Persiste la confusi&oacute;n acerca del n&uacute;mero de miembros, niveles de inversi&oacute;n y duraci&oacute;n de las relaciones &oacute;ptimos &#91;55&#93;.</p>        <p>El Inventario Administrado por el Vendedor (VMI, Vendor-Managed Inventory, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s), es un mecanismo de integraci&oacute;n que mejora la eficiencia de la CS a nivel de proveedores, compradores y clientes &#91;68&#93;. El proveedor asume la responsabilidad de mantener ciertos niveles de inventario y generar pedidos de compra para el reabastecimiento del inventario de los clientes. No obstante, surge la necesidad de poder compartir informaci&oacute;n y aumentar la visibilidad y transparencia en toda la CS; as&iacute;, se combin&oacute; el VMI y el EDI &#91;55&#93;. Por esto mismo, el uso del VMI implica generalmente la utilizaci&oacute;n de un software en donde se comparten los pron&oacute;sticos de demanda y costos de la informaci&oacute;n, par&aacute;metros de riesgo, intercambio de objetivos comunes y niveles de responsabilidad establecidos entre el comprador y el proveedor &#91;31&#93;.</p>         ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>El CPFR (Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s) tuvo su origen en1995,cuando se realiz&oacute; un proyecto piloto entre Wal-Mart, Warner-Lambert, Benchmarking paterns, SAP y Manugistics, dando como resultado un modelo de negocios llamado &quot;forecasting and replenishing inventory collaboratively&quot; &#91;69&#93;. Es una estrategia de colaboraci&oacute;n entre dos partes o m&aacute;s de la CS, que busca planear conjuntamente una serie de actividades promocionales y elaborar pron&oacute;sticos conjuntos. Si los proveedores tienen una mejor visibilidad de los pron&oacute;sticos de ventas de los minoristas, entonces pueden planificar mejor su operaci&oacute;n, y si tienen una mejor visibilidad de las &oacute;rdenes de los minoristas, los proveedores podr&aacute;n planificar mejor su reaprovisionamiento &#91;70&#93;. En las cadenas agroindustriales la implementaci&oacute;n de estrategias colaborativas como el CPFR permiten balancear la demanda con la oferta a lo largo de toda la cadena, desde los agricultores hasta los clientes &#91;71&#93;.</p>        <p><b>3.4.2.3. Intercambio de la informaci&oacute;n</b></p>        <p>El intercambio de informaci&oacute;n, &uacute;til para sistemas, personas y organizaciones, ha demostrado mejorar las medidas de desempe&ntilde;o en las cadenas de abastecimiento &#91;31&#93;, esencial para la integraci&oacute;n de cadenas de suministro, m&aacute;s ahora con la introducci&oacute;n global de la cooperaci&oacute;n y coordinaci&oacute;n de largo plazo de las compaËœ n&iacute;as &#91;72&#93;. Para mejorar los resultados de este mecanismo, las empresas deben responder cuatro preguntas clave; &iquest;qu&eacute; compartir?, &iquest;a qui&eacute;n compartirlo?, &iquest;c&oacute;mo compartirlo? y finalmente &iquest;cu&aacute;ndo hacerlo?. Responder adecuadamente dichas preguntas permitir&aacute; evitar redundancias, reducir los costos del intercambio de informaci&oacute;n y mejorar la capacidad de respuesta &#91;73&#93;.</p>          <p>En este mecanismo los miembros de cadenas de abastecimiento coordinan compartiendo informaci&oacute;n acerca de la demanda, &oacute;rdenes, inventario, costos de producci&oacute;n, pron&oacute;sticos, entre otros &#91;72&#93;. Para el caso de cadenas agr&iacute;colas, las granjas pueden proporcionar informaci&oacute;n sobre el origen y los procesos de producci&oacute;n, mientras que las empresas ofrecen informaci&oacute;n sobre las caracter&iacute;sticas del producto.Se puede compartir tambi&eacute;n informaci&oacute;n sobre los pron&oacute;sticos, el monitoreo del tiempo y la calidad, los planes de producci&oacute;n y pron&oacute;sticos de las entregas, as&iacute; como las condiciones en que se realiza. Sin embargo, la informaci&oacute;n no es completamente fiable dada la variabilidad del clima, caracter&iacute;sticas del suelo,entre otros&#91;74&#93;.</p>          <p><b>3.4.2.4. Tecnolog&iacute;as de la Informaci&oacute;n y la Comunicaci&oacute;n</b></p>          <p>La Tecnolog&iacute;a de la Informaci&oacute;n y las Comunicaciones (TIC) es usada para mejorar la coordinaci&oacute;n, ha mostrado tener un impacto positivo en medidas de desempe&ntilde;o como el servicio al cliente, lead time y costos de producci&oacute;n &#91;10&#93;. Los diferentes avances de la tecnolog&iacute;a de la informaci&oacute;n como internet, el intercambio electr&oacute;nico de informaci&oacute;n (EDI), el ERP, el e-business y muchos m&aacute;s, han permitido a las firmas intercambiar productos, informaci&oacute;n, fondos y usar m&eacute;todos colaborativos para optimizar las operaciones de la CS. Se ha demostrado que internet puede mejorar considerablemente la comunicaci&oacute;n y da la posibilidad a los miembros de la CS de revisar el desempe&ntilde;o pasado y monitorear el desempe&ntilde;o actual &#91;75&#93;.</p>        <p>El uso de estas tecnolog&iacute;as ha aumentado en las cadenas agroindustriales, creando un nuevo modelo de negocios para las compaËœ n&iacute;as que operan en este sector, especialmente con las aplicaciones de internet, ya que resulta m&aacute;s econ&oacute;mico que el EDI &#91;76&#93;. Para lograr una mejor calidad del producto, cumplir con est&aacute;ndares de seguridad y tener tiempos eficientes de respuesta es prescindible el uso de tecnolog&iacute;as de informaci&oacute;n que faciliten su intercambio &#91;34&#93;.</p>        <p>Los sistemas de informaci&oacute;n en las cadenas agr&iacute;colas pueden ser una fuente de ventaja competitiva para todo el sistema log&iacute;stico cuando la tecnolog&iacute;a es usada para facilitar el intercambio de informaci&oacute;n entre los actores de la cadena &#91;77&#93;. Entre las tecnolog&iacute;as pertinentes para la recopilaci&oacute;n, procesamiento, presentaci&oacute;n y comunicaci&oacute;n de datos e informaci&oacute;n (incluyendo comunicaci&oacute;n con el cliente) se destacan los dispositivos multiprop&oacute;sito, RFID y tecnolog&iacute;as para la captura de datos y recolecci&oacute;n de informaci&oacute;n &#91;74&#93;.</p>        <p><b>3.4.3. Medidas de desempe&ntilde;o en cadenas agroindustriales</b></p>        <p>Las medidas de desempe&ntilde;o consideras para la construcci&oacute;n de la Tabla IV fueron tomadas de &#91;59, p. 63&#93; ya que, como los autores aseguran, existen numerosos indicadores cuantitativos o cualitativos, financieros o no financieros, pero no existe consenso en c&oacute;mo medir el desempe&ntilde;o de las CS y mucho menos en el campo de la agroindustria; es por eso que se us&oacute; este marco conceptual de medici&oacute;n de desempe&ntilde;o espec&iacute;fico para cadenas de suministro agroindustriales, el cual se divide en cuatro categor&iacute;as: eficiencia, flexibilidad, capacidad de respuesta y calidad de alimentos, cada categor&iacute;a incluye indicadores espec&iacute;ficos. Adem&aacute;s, se incluy&oacute; una categor&iacute;a llamada &quot;otros&quot; para el caso en donde se tomaban otras medidas de desempe&ntilde;o que no fueron contempladas en el marco de medici&oacute;n descrito previamente (<a href="#t4">Tabla IV</a>).</p>        ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>En lo que se refiere al desempe&ntilde;o log&iacute;stico se utiliz&oacute; la metodolog&iacute;a para el diagn&oacute;stico log&iacute;sticode CS agroindustriales de &#91;60&#93;, la cual se divide en dos categor&iacute;as de an&aacute;lisis: modos (procesos de gesti&oacute;n) y medios (recursos).</p>        <p><b>3.4.4. Impacto de la integraci&oacute;n externa en el desempe&ntilde;o de cadenas agroindustriales</b></p>        <p>En la (<a href="#t4">Tabla IV</a>)se muestra que solo 43 art&iacute;culos de los138 incluyen alg&uacute;n tipo de mecanismo de integraci&oacute;n y miden el impacto en alguna de las categor&iacute;as de desempe&ntilde;o de la CS y log&iacute;stica (Figura 2), mientras los dem&aacute;s (92 publicaciones) se excluyen de la tabla, dado que no contemplan su incidencia en el desempe&ntilde;o log&iacute;stico o de la CS.</p>        <p>Los mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa han sido usados en su mayor&iacute;a de manera aislada como se observa en la <a href="#f4">Figura 4</a>, cada mecanismo de integraci&oacute;n externa es representado con un c&iacute;rculo y las intersecciones muestran cu&aacute;ndo se us&oacute; m&aacute;s de un mecanismo de manera simult&aacute;nea.</p>      <p align="center"><a name="f4"></a><img src="img/revistas/inge/v20n2/v20n2a1f4.jpg"></p>      <p>El mecanismo usado con mayor frecuencia es el intercambio de informaci&oacute;n (58,1%), seguido del uso de contratos (23,3%), mientras que el uso de tecnolog&iacute;as de la informaci&oacute;n (16,3%) y la toma decisiones conjunta (13,9%) han sido poco utilizados. Por otra parte, solo autores como &#91;34&#93; &#91;76&#93; &#91;115&#93; &#91;116&#93; y &#91;117&#93;, utilizaron dos mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa de manera simult&aacute;nea (intercambio de la informaci&oacute;n y tecnolog&iacute;as de la informaci&oacute;n), por lo tanto, es necesario evaluar c&oacute;mo la sinergia de varios mecanismos usados de manera simult&aacute;nea afecta el desempe&ntilde;o de cada eslab&oacute;n y la CS agroindustrial. En cuanto a las medidas de desempe&ntilde;o de las CS estudiadas, la <a href="#f5">Figura 5</a> muestra el uso de cada categor&iacute;a de indicadores y la frecuencia cuando se us&oacute; incluy&oacute; m&aacute;s de una categor&iacute;a de desempe&ntilde;o al tiempo.</p>      <p align="center"><a name="f5"></a><img src="img/revistas/inge/v20n2/v20n2a1f5.jpg"></p>      <p>La mayor parte de los autores analizaron el efecto de la integraci&oacute;n externa en la eficiencia de la CS agroindustrial (79,1%), seguido de la flexibilidad de la CS con un 30,2%, la calidad de los alimentos con un 23,3% y la capacidad de respuesta con un 14,0%, mientras que un 27,9% incluy&oacute; otras medidas de desempe&ntilde;o como la tasa de crecimiento en ventas, cuota de mercado, exactitud en los pron&oacute;sticos, mejor comunicaci&oacute;n, entre otros. Ninguno de los autores consider&oacute; al menos un indicador de eficiencia, flexibilidad, capacidad de respuesta y calidad de los alimentos, por consiguiente, es importante evaluar el efecto de la integraci&oacute;n externa en todas las categor&iacute;as del marco de desempe&ntilde;o para cadenas agroindustriales propuesto por &#91;59&#93;.</p>      <p>Respecto a la medici&oacute;n del desempe&ntilde;o log&iacute;stico, la <a href="#f6">Figura 6</a> muestra la cantidad publicaciones que consideraron los medios, modos o ambos a la vez. <body><![CDATA[<p>Solo doce publicaciones (27,9%) de las 43 en total, analizaron el efecto de mecanismo de integraci&oacute;n en los modos, el 16,3% en los medios log&iacute;sticos y el 14,0% en ambos. En cuanto a los modos (procesos de gesti&oacute;n), el 20,9% del total de publicaciones aspectos de aprovisionamiento, 14,0% incluy&oacute; de inventario y solo 11,6% el proceso de distribuci&oacute;n. En los medios (recursos) un 14,% del total de publicaciones consider&oacute; los sistemas de informaci&oacute;n y trazabilidad, un 2,3% abord&oacute; recursos de almacenes y otro 2,3% transporte e infraestructura. Ninguno de los autores incluy&oacute; el embalaje o empaque. De este modo, son pocos los estudios que han tomado como eje principal el tema log&iacute;stico, lo cual resalta la necesidad de estudios en CS agroindustriales que eval&uacute;en uno o m&aacute;s mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n en el desempe&ntilde;o log&iacute;stico.     <p>Finalmente, no existe una clara comprensi&oacute;n de c&oacute;mo est&aacute; evolucionando este campo de conocimiento, por lo cual esta revisi&oacute;n propone seguir la metodolog&iacute;a de selecci&oacute;n de uno o varios mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa de &#91;31&#93; y su medici&oacute;n bajo el marco de desempe&ntilde;o parala CS agroindustriales de &#91;59&#93; y la medici&oacute;n del desempe&ntilde;o log&iacute;stico de las categor&iacute;as de an&aacute;lisis propuestas por &#91;60&#93;.</p>        <p><b>4. Conclusiones</b></p>         <p>La integraci&oacute;n en la cadena de suministro agroindustrial no es un concepto nuevo, su evoluci&oacute;n ha sido paulatina e impulsada por factores de mercado, regulatorios, tecnol&oacute;gicos, entre otros. La relaci&oacute;n existente entre la integraci&oacute;n y el desempe&ntilde;o de la CS ha sido ampliamente abordada en cadenas convencionales, no obstante, esta revisi&oacute;n ha mostrado que los estudios en CS agroindustriales han sido escasos, representando una oportunidad de investigaci&oacute;n; adem&aacute;s, la revisi&oacute;n permite organizar los futuros avances sobre este campo ya que encamina los esfuerzos de investigaci&oacute;n, tanto para mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa como para indicadores de desempe&ntilde;o.</p>        <p>En cuanto a mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa, muy pocos autores han abordado m&aacute;s de un mecanismo de integraci&oacute;n a la vez, de esta manera es necesario estudiar el impacto de varios mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa en el desempe&ntilde;o de la CS y su impacto en los diferentes eslabones. Tampoco se evidencia un estudio que aclare bajo qu&eacute; condiciones y contextos de la CS agroindustrial resultan m&aacute;s eficiente los mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa.</p>          <p>Adicionalmente, la mayor parte de las publicaciones se enfoc&oacute; en el intercambio de informaci&oacute;n como principal mecanismo de integraci&oacute;n externa, mientras que el mecanismo con menor frecuencia de uso ha sido la toma de decisiones conjuntas, con estrategias colaborativas como el VMI y el CPFR, ya que las caracter&iacute;sticas de las CS agroindustriales aumentan su complejidad, por consiguiente, es importante desarrollar mecanismos de toma de decisiones conjunta que se adapten a estas caracter&iacute;sticas inherentes de la CS agroindustrial y garanticen un mayor desempe&ntilde;o para los actores y la CS en general.</p>         <p>Con respecto a la medici&oacute;n del desempe&ntilde;o, actualmente no existe un marco com&uacute;n de medici&oacute;n de desempe&ntilde;o para las CS agroindustriales, lo cual dificulta el avance en este campo, por lo tanto, es necesario analizar el impacto de la integraci&oacute;n externa sobre un marco de medici&oacute;n como el descrito en esta revisi&oacute;n, adapt&aacute;ndolo a las caracter&iacute;sticas de cada eslab&oacute;n y la CS agroindustrial.</p>        <p><b>5. Trabajo futuro</b></p>         <p>Los trabajos futuros que trabajen uno o m&aacute;s mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa en las CS agroindustriales deber&iacute;an incluir al menos un indicador por categor&iacute;a del marco de medici&oacute;n de desempe&ntilde;o referido (eficiencia, flexibilidad, capacidad de respuesta y calidad de los alimentos), permitiendo una visi&oacute;n m&aacute;s completa del efecto de la integraci&oacute;n en el desempe&ntilde;o de la CS agroindustrial y no solo en la eficiencia de la CS con indicadores como costos, utilidad, rendimiento de la inversi&oacute;n y niveles de inventario. En lo que se refiere a la integraci&oacute;n externa y el desempe&ntilde;o log&iacute;stico de cadenas agroindustriales, sigue siendo un campo incipiente y con potencial para futuras investigaciones, tanto en los modos (procesos de gesti&oacute;n) como en los medios (recursos) log&iacute;sticos, lo que podr&iacute;a profundizar en el enfoque propuesto por Orjuela y Adarme &#91;60&#93;.</p>       <p>Esta revisi&oacute;n no incluye un an&aacute;lisis de las principales CS agroindustriales sometidas a estudio, as&iacute; como las herramientas y m&eacute;todos utilizados en las publicaciones para evaluar el impacto de mecanismos de integraci&oacute;n externa en el desempe&ntilde;o. Por otra parte, la taxonom&iacute;a puede ser a&uacute;n m&aacute;s detallada. Respecto a la medici&oacute;n de desempe&ntilde;o, se puede especificar la variable a medir, unidad de medida, objetivos de la medici&oacute;n, m&eacute;trica, tipo de informaci&oacute;n e indicador de desempe&ntilde;o, mientras que para los mecanismos se puede profundizar en cada uno, mostrando los tipos de contratos usados, informaci&oacute;n compartida, tecnolog&iacute;a de la informaci&oacute;n utilizada y estrategias colaborativas.</p> <hr>     ]]></body>
