</abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en">
Abstract The article analyzes the Operation Lifeline in Sudan from the theory of Zones of Peace within the scope of humanitarian operations, and the identification of relevant elements of international humanitarian law applicable to this situation. The objective is to identify the limits of International Humanitarian Law for the protection of special areas in the context of a non-international armed conflict, as well as the tools available to respond to the problem whitin these limits. An analysis was made of the history of Sudan and the context of armed conflict in which the Operation was developed. Subsequently, a brief study of humanitarian actions and peace operations was carried out. Then the article went deeper into the category of Peace Zones, allowing to find characteristic elements that provide legitimacy in these zones as a customary practice. Finally, the appropriate legal framework for contexts of armed conflict got studied, the International Humanitarian Law, and especially the regulation for specially protected areas. The study highlights the need to apply the existing regulations for international armed conflicts to non-international armed conflicts
</abstract>
