Para ello, se considera una presa de tierra con 22 metros de altura de cortina, teniendo en cuenta los estados: final de construcción y operación, considerando dos suelos tipo CH en la cortina y tres suelos tipo SC en la base. Se empleó el ángulo de succión calculado a partir del ángulo de fricción interna y el grado de saturación del suelo, y se comparó el resultado obtenido con el correspondiente a la curva característica experimental de los mismos suelos. Se empleó el programa GeoStudio 2018 y el Método de Elementos Finitos, combinando las componentes SEEP/W y SLOPE/W. El resultado fundamental revela que es posible considerar el estado no saturado del suelo de manera directa mediante el ángulo de succión, a partir de nuevas relaciones respecto al ángulo de fricción interna del suelo y en función del nivel de agua de la presa analizada.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The present investigation consists of analyzing the effect of unsaturated soil by introducing the characteristic curve and the suction angle in the analysis of slope stability in homogeneous earth dams. To achieve this, an earthen dam with a curtain height of 22 meters is considered, taking into account the following states: end of construction and operation, considering two CH-type soils in the curtain and three SC-type soils at the base. For the present study, the suction angle calculated from the angle of internal friction and the degree of saturation of the soil is used, comparing this result with that corresponding to the experimental characteristic curve of the same soils. The GeoStudio 2018 program, and the Finite Element Method combining the seep/w and slope/w components are used. The fundamental result reveals that it is possible to consider the unsaturated state of the soil directly through the suction angle, based on new relationships with respect to the internal friction angle of the soil and depending on the water level of the analyzed dam.]]></p></abstract>
