La cuantificación de plaguicidas es un proceso costoso y de difícil acceso para los cultivadores y entes de salud y de vigilancia. En este artículo se presenta una metodología sencilla, económica y asequible para la cuantificación de carbofurano en tubérculos. El método de voltametria diferencial de pulso (DPV) para carbofurano fue validado para su cuantificación en papa. El estudio fue realizado usando como electrolito de soporte la solución buffer Palabras clave: electroquímica, insecticidas, productos agrícolas, Solanum tuberosum Britton-Robinson, un electrodo de trabajo de carbón vítreo, Ag/AgCl como electrodo de referencia y platino como electrodo auxiliar. El insecticida en papa fue extraído por reparto solido-líquido y los resultados obtenidos fueron contrastados por espectroscopia UV-Vis, lo cual permitió deducir que el método voltametrico genera resultados satisfactorios, precisos y confiables para la cuantificación de carbofurano en muestras de este tubérculo. Estos resultados son una evidencia del uso de carbofurano en el municipio de Ventaquemada (Boyacá). Este método de detección de carbofurano puede utilizarse como una herramienta para monitorear el uso de estos compuestos químicos en la papa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Overuse of pesticides may result in their accumulation in potato tubers and be a risk to consumer health if they exceed the permissible Maximum Residual Limit (LRM) by the Codex Alimentarius. Quantification of pesticide residues is expensive and mostly inaccessible to farmers, health authorities and supervisory entities. This paper describes a simple, economical and simple method for quantifying carbofuran in tubers. The differential pulse voltammetry method for carbofuran was validated for quantification in potato. A Britton-Robinson buffer was used as an electrolyte supporting solution, glassy carbon as working electrode, Ag/AgCl as reference electrode and platinum as counter electrode. The pesticide was extracted from the potato through a solid-liquid partition method and the results obtained by voltammetry were compared with UV-Vis spectroscopy deducing that the voltammetric method generates accurate and reliable results for carbofuran quantification in tubers. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of carbofuran in potato samples with satisfactory results. These results indicate the use of carbofuran in the town of Ventaquemada in the department of Boyacá, Colombia. This carbofuran detecting method can be used as a tool to monitor the use of this chemical compound in potato tubers.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo O excesso na aplicacao de praguicidas pode gerar acumulacoes nos tuberculos de batata que ultrapassarem o limite maximo residual (LMR) apresentado pelo Codex Alimentarius, o qual representa riscos para a saude dos consumidores. A quantificacao de praguicidas e um processo caro e de dificil acesso para os cultivadores e entes de saude e de vigilancia. Neste artigo, apresenta-se uma metodologia simples, economica e acessivel para a quantificacao de carbofurano em tuberculos. O metodo de voltametria diferencial de pulso (DPV) para carbofurano foi validado para sua quantificacao em batata. O estudo foi realizado usando como eletrolito de suporte a solucao buffer Britton-Robinson, um eletrodo de trabalho de carvao vitreo, Ag/AgCl como eletrodo de referencia e platina como eletrodo auxiliar. O inseticida em batata foi extraido por distribuicao solida-liquida, e os resultados obtidos foram comparados por espectroscopia UV-Vis, o que permitiu deduzir que o metodo voltametrico gera resultados satisfatorios, precisos e confiaveis para a quantificacao de carbofurano em amostras desse tuberculo. Esses resultados sao uma evidencia do uso de carbofurano no municipio de Ventaquemada (Boyaca, Colombia). Esse metodo de deteccao de carbofurano pode ser utilizado como ferramenta para supervisar o uso desses compostos quimicos na batata.]]></p></abstract>
