Se llevó a cabo un diseño cuasiexperimental de tipo pretest/postest, utilizando el Q-Sort de la sensibilidad docente. Participaron diez docentes de preescolar, de tres instituciones educativas oficiales y siete privadas, ubicadas en la ciudad de Ibagué (Colombia). Los resultados indican diferencias significativas en la sensibilidad de las docentes luego de su participación en el programa de intervención, lo que indica que su capacidad para identificar, interpretar y responder de forma oportuna a las necesidades de los niños mejoró notablemente. Sin embargo, las docentes de las instituciones oficiales presentaron niveles más bajos antes de la intervención, y aunque mejoraron con posterioridad a su participación, sus puntajes no fueron altos. Los hallazgos dan cuenta de la necesidad de generar alternativas de desarrollo profesional para docentes en educación inicial, con el propósito de obtener un desempeño integral y responsable en las labores de cuidado que favorezcan la calidad de los procesos en el aula.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The present study seeks to implement a mindfulness-based intervention program to improve preschool teachers&#8217; sensitivity. A pretest/posttest-type quasi-experimental design was followed, using the Q-Sort assessment of teacher sensitivity. Ten preschool teachers from three public and seven private schools in Ibagué (Colombia) participated. The results show significant differences in the teachers&#8217; sensitivity after taking part in the intervention program, suggesting that their ability to identify, interpret, and respond promptly to the needs of children improved remarkably. However, the public school teachers had lower levels before the intervention, and although they improved after participation, their scores were not high. The findings reveal the need to provide professional development alternatives for preschool teachers to achieve comprehensive and responsible performance in care tasks that favor the quality of classroom processes.]]></p></abstract>
