<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0123-30332023000300010&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0123-30332023000300010&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0123-30332023000300010&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El icaco (Chrysobalanus icaco L.) es una planta de máximo 6 metros de altura que crece de manera silvestre en regiones de clima tropical como el Distrito de Barrancabermeja; a pesar de su alto potencial agrícola, es aprovechado pocas veces de manera artesanal o medicinal, sin embargo, el aceite extraído de su semilla puede tener diferentes usos en la industria energética; tal es el caso de la presente investigación, en la cual mediante la reacción de transesterificación y la utilización de dos catalizadores homogéneos como el hidróxido de sodio (NaOH) e hidróxido de potasio (KOH) se obtiene una mezcla de metil ésteres con potencial uso como biodiesel. Como producto de la reacción se obtuvieron rendimientos volumétricos entre el 61 - 90 %, siendo el hidróxido de sodio el catalizador que tuvo el mejor rendimiento para el aceite de icaco como material de partida. Finalmente, para la evaluación de la calidad de los metil ésteres obtenidos en la reacción se realizaron pruebas fisicoquímicas, arrojando valores de densidad entre 0.87 - 0.89 g/mL, índice de acidez entre 0.32 - 1.2 mg KOH/100 gramos, índice de peróxidos entre 1.68 - 2.05 meq O2/Kg e índice de yodo entre 13.19 - 18.2 g I2/100 gramos; valores que pueden brindar un uso potencial como biocombustible.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The icaco (Chrysobalanus icaco L.) is a plant with a maximum height of 6 meters that grows wild in regions with a tropical climate such as the District of Barrancabermeja; Despite its high agricultural potential, it is rarely used in craft or medicinal way, however, the oil extracted from its seed can have different uses in the energy industry; Such is the case of the present investigation, in which through the transesterification reaction and making the comparison with two homogeneous catalysts such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and potassium hydroxide (KOH) a mixture of methyl esters with potential use is obtained. like biodiesel. As a product of the reaction, volumetric yields between 61-90% were obtained, with sodium hydroxide being the catalyst that had the best performance for icaco oil as starting material. Finally, for the evaluation of the quality of the methyl esters obtained in the reaction, physicochemical tests were carried out, giving values of density between 0.87 - 0.89 g/mL, acidity index between 0.32 - 1.2 mg KOH/100 gr, peroxide index between 1.68 - 2.05 meq O2/Kg and iodine index between 13.19 - 18.2 g I2/100 gr; results that could give a potencial use as biofuels.]]></p></abstract>
