To establish quality criteria for eggs and to have an indirect approach to the nutritional requirements of mature specimens, a valid approach is to determine composition aspects, among which the analysis of fatty acid content in different tissues stands out. To this end, the fatty acid profile was determined in the gonads and muscle of 18 broodstock from three different water systems in the Cundiboyacense highlands, all in the Bogotá River basin. The final characterization was made by measuring 19 fatty acids in eggs and 18 in muscle, and a comparison was made between these and between the locations. Generally, the average contents of each fatty acid in eggs and muscle showed a similar behavior among the three sampled sites. It was consistent that the most represented fatty acids were palmitic acid (C16), oleic acid (C18:1), and docosahexaenoic acid (C22:6n-3), with similar proportions in the two tissues. The sets of saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fatty acids remained at 32.4%, 28.7%, and 37.8%, respectively. The consistency of the results obtained between tissues and for different sites shows that they are probably an adequate characterization for E. mutisii and can be a solid baseline in egg quality evaluations and for consideration in eventual formulations of diets for broodstock.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN En la producción de alevinos del capitán de la sabana Eremophilus mutisii, se depende exclusivamente del medio natural como fuente de reproductores y, tanto para establecer criterios de calidad de huevo como para aproximar requerimientos de tipo nutricional para ejemplares maduros, una aproximación válida es la determinación de aspectos de composición, en los que el contenido de ácidos grasos en diferentes tejidos suele ser uno de los procedimientos utilizados. Para el efecto, se determinó el perfil de ácidos grasos en gónadas y músculo de 18 reproductoras provenientes de tres sistemas hídricos diferentes en el altiplano cundiboyacense, todos en la cuenca del río Bogotá. La caracterización final se realizó con la medición de 19 ácidos en huevos y 18 en músculo y se efectuó una comparación entre estos y entre las localidades. En términos generales, los contenidos medios de cada ácido graso en huevos y músculo muestran un comportamiento similar entre los tres sitios muestreados. Fue constante que los ácidos mejor representados fueron el palmítico (C16), el oleico (C18:1) y el docosahexaenoico (C22:6n-3), con proporciones similares en los dos tejidos. Los conjuntos de ácidos grasos saturados, monoinsaturados y polinsaturados se mantienen en el 32,4, 28,7 y 37,8 % respectivamente. La consistencia de los resultados obtenidos entre los tejidos y para los diferentes sitios muestra que los mismos, podrían ofrecer una adecuada caracterización para el capitán de la sabana para construir una línea base sólida en evaluaciones de calidad de huevo y para considerar en eventuales formulaciones de dietas para reproductores.]]></p></abstract>
