Métodos Se realizó una revisión sistemática donde se encontraron 133 artículos, se eliminaron 70 por duplicados y 65 se seleccionaron finalmente: 57 en Cab Abstract, 39 en Pub Med, 20 en Agrícola y 17 en Science Direct. Se recuperaron 47 artículos en texto completo. Los datos se tabularon en EpiDataEntry, se transfirieron al programa Stata versión 12.0. Resultados Los factores más frecuentemente asociados con la presentación de gotas citoplásmicas en porcinos, son los climáticos (estacionalidad, temperatura ambiental y fotoperiodo) y la frecuencia de eyaculación de los verracos. La información a pesar de ser heterogénea y diversa, no menciona estudios realizados bajo condiciones intertropicales, ni bajo condiciones comerciales, ni involucra animales dedicados a la producción intensiva de semen para reproducción controlada. Conclusiones La información se caracteriza por su amplia heterogeneidad y diversidad de estudios. Se realiza un aporte a la Salud Pública Veterinaria colombiana sobre la importancia de las GCs como limitantes de los procesos reproductivos en porcinos. No fue posible la determinación de la relación temporal entre la causa y el efecto de las GCs.]]></p></abstract>

Work carried out in equatorial climate regions or that focused on the analysis of the implications of CDs in artificial insemination centers was not found. Conclusions The information is characterized by a wide heterogeneity and diversity studies. A contribution was made to Veterinary Public Health in Colombia on the importance of CGs as factors that limit reproductive processes in swine. It was not possible to determine the temporal relationship between the cause and effect of CDs.]]></p></abstract>

<body><![CDATA[<p>Las gotas citopl&aacute;smicas (GCs) son la alteraci&oacute;n esperm&aacute;tica m&aacute;s frecuente encontrada en semen de machos porcinos destinados a procesos de reproducci&oacute;n controlada (1,2). El hallazgo de una elevada proporci&oacute;n de estas en los eyaculados est&aacute; claramente correlacionada con bajos niveles de fertilidad de los reproductores; as&iacute; mismo, se ha identificado variabilidad en la frecuencia de presentaci&oacute;n de GCs entre machos a lo largo de su la vida (2,3). Las GCs son ves&iacute;culas residuales del citoplasma, de 2 &#956;m de di&aacute;metro (4), proximales o distales, seg&uacute;n su ubicaci&oacute;n en la pieza intermedia (5-7), que en condiciones normales son eliminadas, en alta proporci&oacute;n, en el epid&iacute;dimo, antes, (8) durante (9) o inmediatamente despu&eacute;s de la eyaculaci&oacute;n (10). Se considera que un macho tiene persistencia de GCs cuando presenta un porcentaje &ge; al 20% (11,12).</p>     <p>En el control de la calidad seminal de porcinos, hasta ahora solo se han realizado aproximaciones al diagn&oacute;stico objetivo de las GCs y su relaci&oacute;n con la fertilidad (9,13,14), lo cual hace necesario el contar con informaci&oacute;n que permita identificar en la literatura, los factores asociados a la presentaci&oacute;n de GCs. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue aportar antecedentes, mediante la realizaci&oacute;n de una revisi&oacute;n sistem&aacute;tica, acerca de la evidencia que se encuentra publicada con respecto a la presencia de las gotas citoplasm&aacute;ticas y su eventual asociaci&oacute;n con los factores de riesgo, orientada, con especificidad, a clima (estacionalidad, temperatura, humedad relativa y fotoperiodo), edad del verraco, morfolog&iacute;a esperm&aacute;tica, sanidad del verraco, alimentaci&oacute;n del verraco, y frecuencia de eyaculaci&oacute;n. La identificaci&oacute;n de los factores de riesgo asociados a las presentaci&oacute;n de GCs son un aporte relevante en el campo de la salud p&uacute;blica veterinaria, debido a sus posibles implicaciones en el proceso productivo dado que su control, de manera indirecta, mejora las condiciones relacionadas con el medio ambiente (temperatura y humedad), alimentaci&oacute;n y condiciones sanitarias, factores claves en la salud p&uacute;blica animal.</p>     <p align=center><b>METODOLOG&Iacute;A</b></p>     <p>Se realiz&oacute; una b&uacute;squeda de literatura en bases de datos electr&oacute;nicas para identificar estudios primarios realizados entre 1975 y 2012. Se consultaron las siguientes bases de datos, disponibles en la biblioteca de la Universidad de Caldas: CAB ABSTRACTS (v&iacute;a   internet), PUB MED (v&iacute;a internet), AGRICOLA (v&iacute;a internet), y SCIENCE DIRECT (v&iacute;a internet). Los t&eacute;rminos utilizados inicialmente para las b&uacute;squedas fueron: (boar OR cerdo) AND (espermatozoides OR spermatozoa OR semen OR gota citoplasm&aacute;tica OR cytoplasmicdroplet) AND (fecundaci&oacute;n OR fertilization) AND (factores de riesgo OR risk factor). Se restringieron las revistas y las publicaciones elegibles a aqu&eacute;llas publicadas en bases de datos, no se incluyeron res&uacute;menes o actas de congresos, cap&iacute;tulos de libros y tesis de grado. Para incluir el art&iacute;culo en la revisi&oacute;n, se tuvo en cuenta que fuera fruto de investigaci&oacute;n primaria, que fuera publicada en revista indexada y que en el t&iacute;tulo o en el resumen se incluyera alguna de las palabras usadas en la   b&uacute;squeda.</p>     <p>El evento de inter&eacute;s para la realizaci&oacute;n de la revisi&oacute;n sistem&aacute;tica fue el reporte de la presencia de GCs en machos porcinos reproductivamente activos y la indicaci&oacute;n de su eventual asociaci&oacute;n con algunos factores de riesgo. Los art&iacute;culos seleccionados   presentaron informaci&oacute;n pertinente sobre GCs en el t&iacute;tulo o en el resumen con el obtener la informaci&oacute;n relacionada con la calidad del estudio y la presencia de GCs.</p>     <p>A continuaci&oacute;n se procedi&oacute; con la consecuci&oacute;n del manuscrito completo para hacer la extracci&oacute;n de la informaci&oacute;n, la cual se obtuvo separadamente por dos personas, uno de los autores y otra persona ajena a los mismos, la cual se consign&oacute; en dos bases de   datos,estas se compararon, con el objeto de validar la extracci&oacute;n inicial de la informaci&oacute;n; las inconsistencias fueron resueltas por el autor senior de la revisi&oacute;n. Una vez obtenida la lista de referencias de cada base de datos, fue exportada al programa EndNoteversi&oacute;n X7 (Thomson Reuters, New York, NY, USA) para la eliminaci&oacute;n de los duplicados y la revisi&oacute;n y el procesamiento de las citas bibliogr&aacute;ficas. Posteriormente, los datos correspondientes a la evaluaci&oacute;n de la calidad del estudio se tabularon usando el programa EpiData versi&oacute;n 3.1 (EpiDataAssoc., Odense, Denmark) y fueron transferidos a una tabla en el programa Excel (Microsoft Corp., Redmond, WA, USA) para el an&aacute;lisis y tabulaci&oacute;n de la informaci&oacute;n. </p>     <p>Al realizar la b&uacute;squeda con los t&eacute;rminos mencionados, no se encontraron resultados o referencias asociadas con los mismos, lo que indic&oacute; una alta restricci&oacute;n con la combinaci&oacute;n de t&eacute;rminos utilizada; por lo tanto, se redise&ntilde;&oacute; la estrategia final de b&uacute;squeda mediante la utilizaci&oacute;n de las siguientes palabras clave y conectores booleanos: (cytoplasmicdroplet) AND (boar), limitando la b&uacute;squeda a art&iacute;culos de texto completo que contuviera las palabras clave, bien fuera en el t&iacute;tulo o en el resumen, y sin restringir la fecha de publicaci&oacute;n. </p>     <p>Como se puede apreciar en la <a href="#f1">Figura 1</a>, con las modificaciones introducidas en la combinaci&oacute;n de t&eacute;rminos para la b&uacute;squeda, se encontraron 133 referencias, de las cuales se obtuvieron 57 referencias en el CAB ABSTRACTS, 39 en PUB MED, 20 en AGRICOLA y 17 en SCIENCE DIRECT, se eliminaron 70 referencias que estaban citadas en dos o m&aacute;s bases de datos, quedando finalmente 65 estudios originales.</p>      <p align="center"><a name="f1"></a><img src="img/revistas/rsap/v16n6/v16n6a11f1.jpg"></p>      <p>Posterior al an&aacute;lisis de la publicaci&oacute;n, se procedi&oacute; a realizar la revisi&oacute;n general del resumen, con el fin de confirmar la pertinencia del estudio y la viabilidad de ser incluido en la revisi&oacute;n; a continuaci&oacute;n se seleccionaron y recuperaron en texto completo 47 publicaciones, los cuales se imprimieron en su totalidad para proceder a realizar la extracci&oacute;n de datos y su posterior an&aacute;lisis.</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p align=center><b>RESULTADOS</b></p>     <p>La revisi&oacute;n sistem&aacute;tica mostr&oacute; que la mayor parte de los art&iacute;culos se publican en idioma ingl&eacute;s, en los pa&iacute;ses de Estados Unidos, Espa&ntilde;a, Jap&oacute;n, Inglaterra y Alemania. En cuanto al a&ntilde;o de realizaci&oacute;n del estudio, de los 47 trabajos realizados, siete se publicaron en la d&eacute;cada de los 70, diez en los 80, tres en los 90 y entre el 2000-2010 se publicaron 14 estudios relacionados con el resultado de inter&eacute;s.</p>     <p>En la <a href="#t1">Tabla 1</a> se presentan los factores asociados con la ocurrencia de GCs en machos porcinos activos reproductivamente. Los factores m&aacute;s reportados sobre la ocurrencia de las GCs est&aacute;n relacionados con el clima, la elevada temperatura ambiental, la presencia de lipooxigenasa, la frecuencia de eyaculaci&oacute;n, la capacidad de adhesi&oacute;n en epid&iacute;dimo, la fragmentaci&oacute;n de ADN. Adicional a estos, se han estudiado otros factores como la morfolog&iacute;a del espermatozoide, temperatura escrotal, edad de los verracos, y temperatura del semen entre otras.</p>     <p align="center"><a name="t1"></a><img src="img/revistas/rsap/v16n6/v16n6a11t1.jpg"></p>     <p>En la <a href="#t2">Tabla 2</a> se describen los factores asociados a la presentaci&oacute;n de GCscon sus respectivos niveles cr&iacute;ticos asociados al efecto. El clima est&aacute; relacionado de manera frecuente con la presentaci&oacute;n de GCs, a niveles de temperatura ambiental mayores de 31,6<sup>&deg;</sup>C, a humedad relativa mayor a 78%; seguido por la frecuencia de eyaculaci&oacute;n (recolecciones superiores a 2 eyaculados por semana) y la disminuci&oacute;n de GCs por el suministro de selenio en la dieta </p>     <p align="center"><a name="t2"></a><img src="img/revistas/rsap/v16n6/v16n6a11t2.jpg"></p>      <p align=center><b>DISCUSI&Oacute;N</b></p>     <p>Se considera a las GCs como la malformaci&oacute;n seminal m&aacute;s frecuentemente asociada con eyaculados de baja calidad y con bajos niveles de fertilidad en los machos afectados, as&iacute; mismo se reporta como la anormalidad m&aacute;s frecuente en semen de machos porcinos destinados a inseminaci&oacute;n artificial (1,2,29,40). Adicionalmente, se ha encontrado una alta variaci&oacute;n en la frecuencia de   presentaci&oacute;n de GCs entre machos, a lo largo de su la vida &uacute;til, as&iacute; como y su persistencia en otros (2,3).</p>     <p>De acuerdo con esta revisi&oacute;n, los factores m&aacute;s frecuentemente asociados con la presentaci&oacute;n de GCs en porcinos, son los clim&aacute;ticos (estacionalidad, temperatura ambiental y fotoperiodo) y la frecuencia de eyaculaci&oacute;n de los verracos.</p>     <p>Respecto a los factores clim&aacute;ticos, en ocho de los estudios incluidos en la revisi&oacute;n se encontraron reportes sobre asociaciones entre la prevalencia de GCs y variables clim&aacute;ticas, de los cuales tres tocan directamente con el incremento de las GCs en el verano, en pa&iacute;ses con estaciones, como Jap&oacute;n (17,18,35); otros tres hacen referencia a una asociaci&oacute;n positiva entre prevalencia de GCs y temperatura ambiental y humedad relativa (7,16,19), en particular Larson y Einarsson (1984) encontraron elevaciones manifiestas en el porcentaje de GCs arriba de 31.6<sup>0</sup>C y de 78% de humedad relativa; y los otros dos autores reportan aumento de las GCs asociado a la disminuci&oacute;n de las horas luz en el oto&ntilde;o (15,36).</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Con relaci&oacute;n a la frecuencia de eyaculaci&oacute;n, se encontraron reportes donde verracos eyaculados con una frecuencia mayor a dos colectas por semana, presentaron una mayor proporci&oacute;n de GCs, las cuales se consideran como signo de inmadurez esperm&aacute;tica (10,41,42).</p>     <p>Con respecto a los estudios analizados, la mayor&iacute;a son descriptivos, se caracterizan por representar un bajo nivel dentro de la escala de la evidencia cient&iacute;fica, pueden estar sujetos a sesgos de selecci&oacute;n, no siguen un proceso sistem&aacute;tico y aleatorio para la selecci&oacute;n de las muestras, por lo cual no es posible la determinaci&oacute;n de la relaci&oacute;n temporal entre la causa y el efecto   debido al proceso de selecci&oacute;n de los casos de machos positivos a GCs.
