Objetivo: revisar la literatura científica sobre los efectos terapéuticos de las especies del Physalis L.: Physalis peruviana L., Physalis angulata L., Physalis ixocarpa L. y Physalis alkekengi var. franchetii L.  Materiales y métodos: se realizó una búsqueda en bases de datos Web of Sciencie, Medline/PubMed, Scopus y ScienceDirect con las palabras clave Physalis peruviana L., Physalis angulata L., Physalis alkekengi var. franchetii L., Physalis ixocarpa L. y ensayos clínicos.  Resultados: se encontraron 49 artículos en la base Web of Sciencie, 14 en Medline/PubMed, 968 en Scopus y 129 en ScienceDirect. Del total de 1160 estudios identificados, solo 32 fueron aceptados para los datos de la investigación. Los artículos demuestran efectos terapéuticos de Physalis L. en estudios in vivo.  Conclusión: esta revisión proporciona una comprensión integral de los efectos terapéuticos del género Physalis L. respaldada por una gran cantidad de experimentos científicos. Las propiedades terapéuticas encontradas fueron efectos antihepatotóxicos, antinefrotóxicos, anticancerígenos, antidiabéticos, antineurotóxicos, antioxidantes, antineurodegenerativos, antibacterianos, analgésicos, renoprotectores, antiasmáticos, anticolesterolémicos, diuréticos, antihistamínicos, antiinflamatorios y antiulcerosos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Background: The Physalis L. genus is a berry type fruit, known as golden berry, aguaymanto, capulí, uvilla, cape gooseberry and has been used to treat some diseases.  Objective: To review the scientific literature on the therapeutic effects of Physalis species: Physalis peruviana L., Physalis angulata L., Physalis ixocarpa L., and Physalis alkekengi var. franchetii L.  Materials and Methods: A search was carried out in the bases of data Web of Science, Medline/ PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, with the keywords Physalis peruviana L, Physalis angulata L., Physalis alkekengi var. franchetii L., Physalis ixocarpa L. and clinical trials.  Results: Were found 49 articles in the Web of Science database, 14 in Medline/PubMed, 968 in Scopus, and 129 in ScienceDirect. Of 1160 studies identified, only 32 were accepted studies for the research data. The articles demonstrate therapeutic effects of Physalis in in vivo studies.  Conclusion: This review provides a comprehensive understanding of the therapeutic effects of the genus Physalis L, supported by a large body of scientific experiments.
