Metodología: con un enfoque cuantitativo-descriptivo y un muestreo no probabilístico de tipo intencional, se aplicó una encuesta a 31 empresas y se detectó un bajo nivel de conocimiento general sobre la IA, especialmente en micro y pequeñas empresas; mientras que solo medianas y grandes empresas han comenzado a implementarla.  Resultados principales: los principales beneficios esperados de la IA incluyen la automatización de procesos, la mejora de la eficiencia operativa y el aumento de ventas. Las expectativas de las empresas en relación con la IA abarcaron obstáculos como la protección de datos, la integración de la IA con los sistemas existentes, la carencia de conocimientos sobre estas tecnologías y la falta de comprensión sobre sus implicaciones éticas.  Conclusiones: la IA puede ser una herramienta clave para enfrentar la creciente competitividad y mejorar la atención al cliente, y aquí la automatización de procesos es la solución más relevante.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective: To identify the most significant challenges faced by commercial and service enterprises in Ecuador and how these can be addressed through artificial intelligence (AI).  Methodology: Utilizing a quantitative-descriptive approach and a non-probabilistic intentional sampling method, a survey was administered to 31 companies. The findings revealed a low general level of awareness regarding AI, particularly among micro and small enterprises, while only medium and large companies have begun to implement it.  Main Results: The primary anticipated benefits of AI include process automation, enhanced operational efficiency, and increased sales. Companies' expectations regarding ai encompassed obstacles such as data protection, integration of AI with existing systems, a lack of knowledge about these technologies, and insufficient understanding of their ethical implications.  Conclusions: AI can be a key tool in addressing the growing competitiveness and improving customer service, with process automation being the most relevant solution.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo  Objetivo: identificar os principais desafios enfrentados pelas empresas comerciais e de serviços no Equador e analisar como eles podem ser abordados por meio da inteligência artificial (AI).  Metodologia: com abordagem quantitativo-descritiva e amostragem não probabilística intencional, foi aplicado um questionário a 31 empresas. Foi detectado um baixo nível de conhecimento geral sobre AI, especialmente nas micro e pequenas empresas, enquanto apenas as médias e grandes empresas começaram a implementá-la.  Principais resultados: os principais benefícios esperados da AI incluem a automatização de processos, a melhoria da eficiência operacional e o aumento das vendas. As expectativas das empresas em relação à ia incluíam obstáculos como a proteção de dados, a integração da ia nos sistemas existentes, a falta de conhecimentos sobre essa tecnologia e a falta de compreensão das suas implicações éticas.
